  • Creating a (Board) Game - Help?

My girlfriend has to create a game for her Psychology class. It doesn't necessarily have to be a board game. Anything will do, as long as it follows the class rules. Basically, somewhere in the game, we have to ask a Psychology question which has a True/False answer or Multiple Choice. Based on your correct/incorrect answer, something has to happen and push the game forward.

We don't really want to make a board game, we just don't have enough time/creativity. Plus, my girlfriend wants something a little more original. Any suggestions will help, we're both stuck.

Previous students have created the following and the professor loved them:

Roller Coaster - For every right answer, you move your car up the roller coaster. For every wrong answer, you move back.

Basketball - For every right answer, you shoot the ball into the hoop. You move closer every time you get a right answer. For every wrong answer, you miss your turn.

Lame, right? Okay, so something as lame as this will work. Just something that will make students get up and take part in the game.

I don't know what she likes but, since you're all into film, you can set up a movie-type board game. For instance, you can use film strips as the path in the game: you can either draw it, use real ones, or find some online to cut out. To decorate the game, you can choose various movies that most people are familiar with, finding pictures of characters or specific things in the movies that everyone recalls, cutting them out and pasting them around the game, in various places. I.E. Superman, Batman, Wizard of Oz, Beetlejuice, Spiderman, Watchmen, Joker,...and so forth, having a mix of random supernatural characters. Actually, you can do this..Make two sections of cards (like Monopoly) where the players can pick up when they've landed on a "bad" film strip. The "bad" film strip is when someone lands on an "evil" character or anything evil..I.E - Black Mushrooms, a lightening bolt, fire. You can cut and paste these evil things near or on certain film strips, throughout the game. Once they land on something "evil", (if I'm getting this right) they can choose a card from the "dark" side, where they would pick a card which would tell them to go back a step, two steps, or to skip a turn...(make something up). The other section of the cards, you can have it be the "good" side. So, in this case, it's going to be the opposite of what I just said...Once they land on a "good" character, or something rewarding (I.E Gems, Gold coins, a star.), they can choose from the "good" side of cards, which would tell them to do something better to win the game.

You can figure out placing the Psychology questions somewhere in this game, or switching the game up.

I probably lost you in all this, but ehh.

"The center of the Universe." up to 6 players on a board, and the goal is to get from start to the center, and you must tell things, coneited things about yourself to get there. However, before you say it aloud, you must write down weather it is a lie or not, and if the other players call your bluf you move back a space.

      hows that?

Thank you both for the suggestions.

Unfortunently, we ended up working on the game before seeing your posts. My girlfriend wanted something simple, something physical, therefore we just created a question/answer game around the game of ring toss. We're pretty much finished, the playing card/instruction manul looks pretty nice and it's all in their presentation. We ended up buying floral rings and painting them.

          Hopefully, all goes well tomorrow.

Yeah, we didn't want to go with a board game because my girlfriend basically realized her teacher was favoring physical games. Perhaps, she was just tired of seeing board games every year. Either way, it's all done and she's waiting on a grade.
