Re: I need some advice on the GREs

I read that the graduate department for my school requires the GRE but as long as you're score is 1100 or higher, you're good. The departments have also said that it doesn't matter how high the score is, as long as you meet the minimum requirements, that's all they care for.

So, where does 1100 rank? Siggie, you said each section is 800, but aren't there three sections, and isn't the maximum score 1600?

The third section is two essays. Most departments don't care about these, so the verbal and math sections are what you should concentrate on.

The math section can be really easy if you know what to look for. Most of the questions are easy, but can be tricky, so it's important to know what the questions are asking before answering.

The verbal section is a real b!tch. If you don't have several months to study for it, forget about memorizing words. Instead, follow the strategies outlined in one of the GRE study books, those will help you much more than memorizing words.

If you familiarize yourself with the test, you'll have no problem scoring 1100 or more.
