I despise the OT, it is full of nonsense and myths, Christianity should not have adopted it as a whole, only some parts can be considered.

plus the God of the OT YHWH is a criminal war racist God who is only for Israeli people, while God of the NT is God of Love and peace.

How historical the scriptures are to you depends entirely on whether you accept God's word as the highest truth or not. If you accept God's word as the highest truth, you are bound to accept everything in the bible as historical, you simply have no other choice. So God chooses for you how historical the bible is.

If you start treating the scriptures as a human enterprise rather (even if you still believe its divinely inspired), then its historical validity can be questioned, as it can now be to be dissected and scrutinized by historiographers who will compare it to other historical records. Once you do that, you have to abandon the bible's literalness as a coherent way to connect to God and find some other explanation for why you should believe in him.

It's quite confusing how Jesus embraces both the God of the OT and his own message of forgiveness.

So, the Armenian church deals with this easily because they're not biblical literalists, basically.

They replace biblical literalism with Church fathers who pick and choose how all Armenians from thenceforth should follow the religion. Of course, just as we are free to interpret the sense of biblical passages, so are we to interpret the guidance of these church fathers, and which aspects of their guidance to emphasize/De-emphasize.... thus still allowing for an indefinite spectrum of possibility for how exactly to think as a Christian.
