Hi,

I need to know what "ayah" means--my father called his grandmother that but does it mean grandmother or is it just a form of affection? Would be Western Armenian.

Are you sure it wasn't "yaya"? Greeks use it too.

No, it is definitely ayah but it is used in the same way yia yia is for Greeks.

Artashes I know Western Armenians used that word, but I don't know if it's Armenian

Babam in Turkish means "my father". "Ohfff babam" is a sign of frustration.
