Are they ethnic Azeris or Avar/Lezgin? Not that it matters much since the Azerbaijani government refers to any person, place, or thing that has ever existed on its territory as Azerbaijani. But maybe they will make an exception in order to distance themselves from these terrorists.

I have know idea who they are. However the Azeris regime are probably under orders from Ankara to turn a blind eye to Al-Qaeda in Azerbaijan.

They're actually Salafi/Wahhabi Azeris who exist as a minority in the country. They have bombed a few mosques in Azerbaijan in the past but the state uses a heavy hand against them so they are generally weak. They might even be minority Avars/Lezgins. Nonetheless, these thugs remain a threat to Armenia. Let's hope the Syrian Army destroys them.

These clowns are far more of a threat to Azerbaijan than Armenia and AQ in Azerbaijan is most likely state sponsored.

Hezbollah has joined the fray in Syria and the sectarian undercurrents risk widening the conflict. So the upcoming peace talk in Geneva are of some importance.

I fear the freezing of the present status quo and the beginnings of a partition

The objectives of the enemies of Syria, (US, Israel, Turkey) have been achieved.
