I bet you can only think of one icon of mine that is intended for shock, if you even remember it. People just presume I am all about shock because I have some stupid reputation for being racy. But you do not actually pay attention to what you are criticizing. And that icon Spiral posted has absolutely no shock value whatsoever; it is childish and unoriginal.
By the way, that icon I mention is the corpse. Almost all of the rest are images relating to films save for Yankee Rose, the Black Square, and Soghomon Tehlirian.

I loved Northfork. I did feel that the story was a bit lacking and it was esoteric for the sake of being esoteric. However the concept was interesting and it was so beautiful, visually, that it made up for its shortcomings and was very enjoyable. I have yet to see Twin Falls Idaho.

Exactly, plus I feel like it was aimed to be an aesthetic venture. Also I think that Polish tried to hard to make it “eccentric” as a result it turned out to be a bit “overworked”. Although I do agree that visually it was magnetic, and I do like the surrealism, some of the shots looked like paintings. The story was on a weak side, but I believe that was supposed to be viewed as a fairy tale for adults. Overall it was…egh….but an interesting concept as you’ve noted.
My next exploration of film surrealism will be L’Age d’Or (Bunel and Dali), should be intriguing to see the collaboration.
