These bizarre incidents always occur in small suburban towns, where everyone seems to be demented and bored out of their mind. In my mind Kentucky is always associated with fried chicken and the trailer homes. I would certainly lose my mind as well, so I can understand what happened to the moron.

I completely disagree with you on this! The only reason that these are the only kind of stories you hear out of small towns (which doesn't happen that often) is because not much else is going on. You have your murder, rape, drugs, gangs and all other forms of violence in the bigger cities such as LA and NYC that there really isn't any room to report the seldom act of a geeky boy attacking his mother. The one time these small towns get some action around their area they are going to make it seem as big as though they just cracked down on a mob selling dope to young kids. I live in a small town and it is boring having to hear the anchor people report how the fireman saved the cat who couldnt come down from the tree. You hear the same news at 6AM, 12PM, and 11PM...it never ends. So the one time they get to have a "huge" report to cover they will blow it out of proportion and make it appear as if it was the crime of the century. Anways what I mean to say is these stupid actions by stupid people (its not due to boredom its due to dumb people..and these dumb people exist in all forms in a variety of cities) doesnt only happen in small towns, it happens in the bigger cities as well.... you just dont hear about it.

And small towns arent that bad...its kinda nice knowing half the townsfolks
