Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    Profession without Money?

I don't know if this topic has been discussed before, so don't be too cruel. When we are little we often come up with dreams of really bizarre professions when we grow up. I once wanted to be an ice-cream “wo”-man, since I loved chocolate ice-cream sold at the cafe in front of our building. Especially on those hot summer days when my mother used to send me down with a pot (kastryulya) to buy some paxazak (ice-cream) for cofe-glyasse . I don't know if any of you remember or know what it is; it's cold coffee mixed with ice cream and it's is the most refreshing drink in the summer.

Later I wanted to be a dancer, a tennis player, and later pretty seriously a theater actress since I was attending a drama school for a long time. Some time later I decided to become a journalist for some travel magazine. However my father convinced me that my bad habit of tardiness would damage my chances of becoming a good journalist. That was dumb, but at that time I took him seriously. Currently I've become interested in Computers and Networking. So I decided to become a Systems Librarian, basically merging my love for literature and technology.

However, I've always wondered, what would I want to do if the money issue was not involved at all. Would I still want to be involved in computers, or would I simply travel around the world and write articles about the life in other countries. Or perhaps I would have loved to be an architect or a Buddhist Monk.

What about you? What profession have you chosen and why? What were some of the professions you've thought of when you were young? What would you do if money wasn't involved?

Please don't kill me Eve, for I must correct you one more time (unless I'm wrong) . It's "paxpaghak", not "paxazak".

And I LOVE cofe-glyasse...I made it just the other day. Except I pour the boiling hot coffee right on the ice cream, so it melts some of it.

As for your thread, yes, we've made one before, but I won't be too cruel since you asked so nicely, haha. Here it is . But anyway, as I said before, when I was little, I wanted to be either a cop or a pilot, hehehe. Such a little tomboy I was.

PILOT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've always loved flying, in fact I loved sitting on top of my roof smoking and watching the planes go buy with their flickering light. Although I think I would get carried away with flying tricks.

So what is your current choice and why did you decide on it?

Can you find your thread and maybe we can merge the two, since we have new members? Paxpaxak is the right way to sMell it! Thanks dear Flaming Wise Ass. By the way, another awesome thing to have in the summer is okroshka! Cold and cucumbery!

I added the link for the thread in my previous post.

As far as why I want to be a doctor...

I was about 7 at the time, and my cousins and I found a wounded "varobushek", hehehe. I remember how I had this huge desire to heal it, so that's exactly what I tried to do. We made a little house for it and brought it food and water and stuff for about a week. One day we came to check up on it, and either it had flown away, or become lunch for the resident cat, hahaha. In any event, it was this that made me realize that being a doctor would be cool. Oh, and my idol (my grandma) is also a doc, so I want to follow in her footsteps and make her proud, although the journey sure is difficult (emotionally).

            PS I LOVE OKROSHKA!!! YUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

Interesting....My experience was similar to yours, but impacted me otherwise. I saved a pigeon, who was wounded with a slingshot (nasty baki boys, I had to yell at them and shoo them away). I nurtured it, it got better and healthier, after 3 weeks of improvement we found him feet up and lifeless. I decided that the last thing I needed to be is a doctor, unless I chose to follow in the steps of Dr. Kevorkian.

PS. Tahn kicks ass as well!

I wanted to either be a paleontologist or an aerospace engineer.

At this point I'll probably be a scientist, doctor, or small-time entrepreneur. I'll write when I'm older and have more time.

I wanted to be an astronaut or an entomologist (yes, I love bugs). I realized that flying into space requires perfect vision so that one's down the potty. I'm not sure about entomology but Loser and our biology professor made it sound pretty nice. I'm doing Microbiology now with the possibility of medical school.

Supposedly entomologists are in demand. They're needed by agriculture to help find better ways of ridding crops of pests, and they're in short supply. From what I've heard, they can almost name their own price.

I always wanted to be a cop when I was little. There was just something about them..they looked so powerful. Then as I grew I figured I'd rather be a detective cause I loved reading all those crime sloving books. Then I matured and figured that being a detective is kinda boring especially if your living in a small town and I wanted to travel the world so I figured I'd be a CIA agent. Then I realized that my entire life I have been wanting to be a person who would probably be put in a situation where I would have to shoot and even kill someone, and the idea of killing someone just didnt fit me at all. So I thought I could go into criminology, you get to work at the crime scene yet you never have to really deal with having to kill anybody. But then I realized that this profession needed a lot of science courses and I really was not up to any more Chem or Bio. Now I'm majoring in Political Science, but I dont exactly want to be a lawyer, thinking more of diplomacy..that way I can still travel. But at the rate I'm going, I just might become a mortician.
