Is there an Armenian Community in Chicago? I'm visiting there in like a week or so to see some friends and was wondering if there's like a Glendale equivilant out in Chi-Town.

I don't know if it's quite as big a community as the Glendale out there, but there is also a Glendale here that has a lot of Armenians running around (don't ask me what Armos fascination with towns called Glendale is. Maybe they got it confused with the one in Cali
), along with several Armenian churches near it. The one we used to go to long ago was in Glenview. They used to have big picknics and such. I'm pretty sure there is a Chicago chapter of AGBU, too. There are also a few Sayat Nova restaurants (the only one I can remember the town for is the one in Des Plains) in/around Chicago. A couple of years ago, they opened a place called Raffi's just a few minutes away from me. Unfortunately, it's very expensive and not very impressive. I live in a SW suburb of Chicago. The heart of "the city" is a good 40 minutes away from me, which is why it's odd that Raffi's opened here. Too bad it sucks. Back to burgers and fries. 
Well...that's all I can offer you. Hope it helps. I really don't delve into the city much. Too many people, and WAY too much traffic. Not a good combo for someone with....a tad bit of road rage....

AGBU = Armenian General Benevolent Union = Ho Pen Et Men = Hay Parekordzagan Enthanoor Miootyoon
Probably the Armenian Organization with the biggest capital (except the Lincy Fund??).
Founded in 1906, with an aim to help Armenians in need.
Now operates over 20 schools around the world, and many community centers.
Sponsor of, among others, the Armenian Philaharmonic Orchestra.
Its past presidents include Calouste Gulbenkian (Mister Five Percent) and Alex Manoogian.
Rated by CharityWatch as the number 1 organization with regards to efficiency and tranparency, right ahead of the International Red Cross and the Harvard Fund.
All in all, a pretty big organization.
