  • Diffrence between the language.

Can you understand the "eastern" Armenian slang/language from what you know? Like I don't speek "pure" Amenian, its got a combination of slangs or whatever mixed from countries around Amrenia. Anyway can you understand both clearly? I don't, I have trouble understanding the "pure" one though, like the pernounciation of the words are a bit diffrent. So which one you down with?

I'm down with both Eastern and Western Armenian. I don't have a problem understanding both.

I do understand both as well.
I didint when i was younger, as i never mixed with people who spoke that eastern armenian that is spoken in armenia. As more and more immigrants came and through the internet, ive learnt to understand more and advance my knowleadge of "eastern "armenian.

So far the only difference I've noticed is that Westerners put more emphasis on the Ps and Ks while Easterners put more emphasis on the Bs and Gs (Ex: "Pari Kishare" vs "Bari Gishare"). I'm sure there's more to it, but that's the only difference I've seen.

The only "dialect" I can't understand what so ever if my life depended on it is Bairuitsi Armenian. Every once in a while I'll decipher an "Inchoo?" or "Che!" but other than that it just leaves me with a confused look on my face.... however, it is beautiful sounding.

i just remembered this: now, please don't get offended! all in good fun

we barsgahyes (actually not me) get giddy sometimes and say this when talking about the western armenians:

            "egur hoss, @ngir poss"

and i hear that behind our backs hayastantzis say:

            "haver@ egan"

(can anyone confirm the latter? i'd like to know! )

I'm Basgahye and I have no clue what the hell you just said

EDIT: "haver@ egan" Oh now I understand (would have been easier if you used an "A" instead of an at sign). yes, we are the Havs, and never forget it. Bak bak BAK BAK!! And why are we Havs? because we love Bak bak bak baklava!

                ..

                ok, I'll shut up now.
