IT company gives workers free beer - wins award

A US software company that gives its workers free beer on Friday afternoons has been named the "Best Small Company to Work for in America".

Analytical Graphics, Inc (AGI) also gives workers access to a free laundry service, free meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - all week and access to free snacks, confectionary and drinks. And if there are concerns that all this free nosh might pile on the pounds, there's also a gym. Which is free.

    Read all about it!
I don't think I've ever had such a great job. Have you?

Maybe that's where the gym is? On the 6th floor.

One of the best I've ever had was as a dishwasher in a Greek retaurant (many years ago back when i was high school and college). Because I was Armenian I was of a special status - above the Americans and other ethnics who worked there and just a step below the Greeks themselves...my status improved immensly when I brought my Grandmother in one day and she spoke to them in perfect unaccented Greeks. So the bennies...they fed me well - including great food to take hom to get me through the week...and I used to always joke that I never drank - outside of work...yeah - pretty much as many rum and cokes or beers I could drink...and if my friends came by to pick me up and go out and party after work - they would insist that i take a few 6 packs with me! Yeah it was great - and for other reasons as well...anyway I wrote a paper in Economics about this in college - utilizing Thorstein Veblins theory of the liesure class as a guide - where I weighed the various enefits of the job and basically declared it as the ultimate job (for someone of my value set at the time of course...)
