What are data entry jobs like. I'm thinking of going into data entry and moving up to MIS eventually. The job requires "data entry" experience. So anybody know anybody that works in data entry? How hard could it be?

Usually, quite repetitive and boring I'd say ... "experience" could be in the from of 10'key and touch typing. It could also just be like transfering data from paper forms into computerized forms. If I had to make a comparison, I'd say data entry is to computer use as manual labor is to traditional jobs.this post = teh win.

That's how I started foruming. I had a data entry job.
It's not a very interesting task. You don't learn much. Very repetitive. The time passes soooo slowly, and you get this awfull pain in your wrist.

I used to be a recording typist. I wanted to be a recording artist but I had bad spelling. haha. No really, my job basically involved listening to recordings of interviews between psychiatrists and patients (children patients) and typing them up word for word. It paid very well. That along with the fact that there were some pretty interesting case studies being conducted, is the only reason I stayed at the job. It is terribly boring. I can't imagine that data entry would be any more fun.
