  • Help!

Hey guys, I'm having problems with my computer, it seems to have a virus(es).

I keep getting pop ups, and the computer's running really slow, and keeps freezing.

I scanned the computer with Norton antivirus, it comes up with some, but is not able to delete them all. It helped helped a bit, at the moment. Now it's acting up again.

    How can I fix this?

You may have to reformat. Run it on safe mode, save everything you need, then pop in your recovery CD.

The computer's new... like 2 month old at the most. So everything's up to date.

That's happened to me before. When you scanned, did it give the name of the file/virus? I got lucky because the virus I had was seemingly widespread because it was on the symantec website and had instructions on how to remove it. The instructions were pretty complicated, but if you follow them word for word, you should be fine.

          Look under "Latest Threats".

No no no, do NOT reformat unless you have tried everything else. I was going to reformat mine, but after I cleaned it out, there was no need for it.

Ya I got the names, and I removed them through the add/remove options, and uninstalled them, but now they're back..
And I have a bunch of adware.

But I'll try going over the instructions.

                thanks!

Go to this forum: http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?b=1 and ask for help there. I had that "best friends" virus on AIM a couple of months ago, I asked there and they helped clean my computer up.
Try it, they know there stuff.

Believe me, viruses are a little more persistent than just being able to get rid of them by "uninstalling" them. The instructions I followed were pretty complicated (I had no clue what I was doing, just following the steps). The virus I had wouldn't even let me scan the comp haha, so I did quite a bit in safe mode.
