Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

if not for the mall, the way corporations MAKE you spend money and the way society pressures you to show what you've got...(gifts, how you look, how big is your tree, what company decorated your front lawn+facade)
I mean what part of "Santa clause" has anything to do with Christ's birth.
          they call it "christmas".
and it's not only Christmas. governments gotta somehow have the economy moving: In January it's "after christmas sales", in Feb it's Valentine's day, in March it's Easter, and mother's day and father's day and 4th of July and halloween...and on and on and on...just think about the common denominator in all these "holidays"... money!

P.S. I can almost smell the amount of storm of replies I'm gonna get. fact of the matter is, you christmas "lovers" have been SOLD to believe in the so called "christmas spirit", I'm just being me in my good old real world.
Hmm.. actually..lol.. we seem to agree on this Gaucho...only a dead man can deny the fact of the 'common denominator' you sugested to be money.. it is infact true.. (btw you forgot the after thanksgiving sale, targetting those who need to do christmas shoping)
You are right.. but, thre is also the 'Christmass" spirit one can be in despite all this.. it is the english term that is defective.. the aremenian terminology describdes the spirit better .. "shnorhavor surp dznund"

You are entirely right, but the Xmas we know now is part of our society, we can't do much about it....Gifts, decorations, costumes ar a must now awaiting the 24th December.

And, sure, it's not by going to church at Xmas eve, that will fill the state's treasury

I love the month of December, we celebrate on the 31st with our family and the 5th of January. 31st is crazy, I love the food, the family, and the pure madness that follows.

There's nothing wrong with being materialistic once a year. I like going out and buying a nice tree, the fresh smell, dragging it home and decorating it with friends and family. Everyone buys the presents and hides them until christmas eve and then brings them out in the middle of the night. This year I plan to decorate the house with lights as well (but damn Northridge is so windy I'm going to freeze my nuts off getting it done). I really dont even care for presents, I like giving people presents. I already have the list made but I hate shopping Everytime I go to the mall, I come back with a huge thumping headache. Christmas usually costs me from 400 - 1000 dollars so its affordable. (I dont grow $ on the backyard trees so can't shell out thousands of bucks) Yet. Given, I don't know as much as you do about the history of it, but its a good opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved ones and friends. I don't see the whole govt and economy deal in it. It's just pleasant to see the reaction of friends and loved ones opening gifts that you took the time and care to get & give them. Plus you get to drink and be merry!

The men get a firm handshake and hug. The women get a hug and kiss on the cheek. Certain women that are not related! get a kiss elsewhere. End of story

Speaking of Christmas, there's going to be a shortage of christmas trees this year and once again, the customers are going to be subjected to ridiculous prices. Like a 6-7ft Noble fur is probably going to be $80-100 dollars if not more.
