  • If a couple is 2, a few is 3....

then how much is several? How much is many? These questions have been bothering me for awhile.

several would be 5 and many would be 8 or 10. In my opinion.

I thought 3 and 4 are considered as few.

P.S. Emil, aren't you the minister of information?
          I see...

Actually, a few is not necessarily 3 but it's more than two. There you go, now there's more confusion.

I've thought about that same exact thing before, this is my take:

A couple is 2 or more.
A few is 2 or more, but usually 3-5
Several is atleast 7 or more. (seven/several)
Many is set by the emotional charge of the including sentence.
