I think if I start with the one made in 78' or so it is in the wrong order. I want to watch it from beginning to end as it happens in the episodes, so which one is the first one?
I'd watch them in order of their original theatrical release. So that's Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983). If you want to follow the actual Star Wars chronology, you would start with the prequel The Phantom Menace (1999).
