Second one: He likes you more than I like you.

This isn't so much about what your books say, but about how YOU speak and YOUR native speaker intuition. Which would you be more likely to use, regardless of what the books say? And with what meaning?

You're on the right track though, but there's a bit more. The first sentence is ambiguous. Maybe the second is too.
