Well, Peter the Great travelled extensively in Europe and Saint Petersburg (or Sankt Peterburg in Russian) was designed by European (mostly Italian and Venecian) architects. But, considering that Russia was in war with Prussians, I doubt they named their capital in Prussian.

The -burg thing reminds me of German/Austrian city names. How silly.Originally posted by karoaperWell, Peter the Great travelled extensively in Europe and Saint Petersburg (or Sankt Peterburg in Russian) was designed by European (mostly Italian and Venecian) architects.
