“Mother Nature Declares War…”
I find this interesting that CNN chooses to use war metaphors to discuss global weather patterns and mother nature, instead of talking about the impacts of human-caused global warming (e.g., warming of Gulf of Mexico waters adding intensity to storms.)
Of course, though, these 24 hour news networks thrive ($$$) off of war in general. They got big boosts during the First Persian Gulf War. It would be much more sensible to discuss the science and politics (and other aspects) of something like global warming than to talk about silly things like ‘mother nature declaring war,’ but that just isn’t nearly as sensational (drawing ratings.)
