Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Yes. I LOVE cats. Some dogs are nice, but I'm a kinda kitty--you could call me Bastish. BAST: http://wuzzle.org/cave/catlore1.html

    (Reminds me of a J-wish joke. "I'm not a J-w. I'm J-wISH")

When my cat died, I did see her reincarnating as a kitten... (and I 'let her go' in the metaphysical way.)

      Re: God Father And Mother

I just found a REALLY neat webpage:

“Here is a listing of musical artists which have liberal-oriented lyrics, or have worked for liberal causes, or have expressed liberal sentiments in interviews, etc. This list is the combined effort of myself and Turn Left readers: ”

[Their list pretty much describes my CD collection. ]

      R.E.M.
      U2
      Billy Joel
      Rage Against The Machine
      Bruce Springsteen
      Sting
      Pearl Jam
      Nirvana
      Tori Amos
      Rush
      Natalie Merchant
      Janes Addiction
      Bob Dylan
      John Lennon
      Tracy Chapman
      Nine Inch Nails
      xxxel
      Ministry
      The Indigo Girls
      Little Steven
      Queensryche
      Ani DiFranco
      Beastie Boys
      Paul Simon
      Grateful Dead
      The Beatles

Do you see any pattern there?

      [Every breath I take...]

Hello, I'm the guy who sits next to you
And reads the newspaper over your shoulder
Wait! Don't turn the page. I'm not finished.
      Life is so uncertain...

Yes it's true all I want Girl is you.

Given that true intellectual and emotional compatability are at the very least difficult if not impossible to come by we could always opt for the more temporal gratification of sheer physical attraction.

That wouldn't make you a shallow person? Would it?

If Ford is to Chevrolet what Dodge is to Chrysler
What Corn Flakes are to Post Toasties
What the clear blue sky is to the deep blue sea
What Hank Williams is to Neil Armstrong

Look I understand too little too late.
I realize there are things you say and do
You can never take back but what would you be if you didn't even try?
You have to try. So after a lot of thought I'd like to reconsider

Please, if it's not too late, make it a "cheeseburger."

Oh dear. You really should not have posted that list, Anahita. It makes Republicans almost seem bearable.

Alas, the range of icons available on this board is not wide enough to fully express my opinions.

        Pearl Jam -
        Nirvana - Ok, but dead.
Tori Amos - Ok, but weird and married.
        Rush -
Natalie Merchant - done nothing good since 10000 Maniacs
        Janes Addiction -
Bob Dylan - (insert "corpse bored to death" smilie, if there was one)
John Lennon - (insert "gravestone" smile, and "jumping up and down for joy" smilie)
Tracy Chapman - One half-decent song in 20 years! (insert "and from that she makes a living?" smile)
        Nine Inch Nails -
        xxxel - Who?
        Ministry - Who?
        The Indigo Girls - Who?

Ani DiFranco - (insert "corpse bored to death" icon, if there was one)
Beastie Boys - OK for the videos
Paul Simon - (insert "corpse bored to death" smilie, if there was one)
Grateful Dead - OK, but mostly dead
The Beatles - If only they all died in the early 1970s!

I’ve quoted many on their list here for the divine-inspired metaphorical (code) messages in their lyrics. Mostly on “Irony of Religion” http://forum.armenianclub.com/showthread.php?t=6769, but a few other places, as well.

Elvis is my god…--Codeword Elvis, Police
I don’t believe Elvis is dead. --Everything Zen, Bush
She’s a good girl…Loves Jesus and America too… She’s crazy ‘bout Elvis. —Freefallin, Tom Petty

“Elvis” and Viva Las “Vegas”…. Post #21 at Sexism and jokes

If you read that post, my other ones MIGHT be more clear in that context.

          Post #73 at http://forum.armenianclub.com/showth...?t=6679&page=2

I own most every album by: Indigo Girls, Rage, and Sting/Police… I think Marley, Chili Peppers (and many others) should be on their list.

Bell, the dead have lots of important things to say. Plus, most of them are frequently on the 'phone,' er, I mean my favorite radio station. You could listen to MMM too, online. http://www.madison.com/mmm/ I don't remember where I put the Little Steven info. He has a really funny talk/music show on that station later tonight. I'm telepathic with him.

Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free. Dizzy with eternity. Paint it with a skin of sky, brush in some clouds and sea. Call it home for you and me.A peaceful place or so it looks from space –Throwing Stones (Grateful Dead)

Great job with the quiz score, Bell!

            Bell-the-cool-cat:

My friend, Little Steven (from Bruce Springsteen's band...but Little Steven is great on his own merit), has a great show on MMM (That you can hear webcast live in the link I gave above) that will be on for the next 2 hours (maybe will be replayed again in two hours from now, too) The show is a mix of music and witty history and much more... I'm almost certain he'll play some Beatles, though (if you can stand that )

He's full of humor, subtle word games, and all that kind of stuff. I love it.

You seem to be rather cool yourself - so I'm a little bit sorry about the slash and burn I committed on your band list.

Though anything that I could say against REM, Sting, and U2 would not be half as harsh as what that lot really deserve! And, to borrow from your other thread, what do you think their "ecological footprint" is? About the size of Godzilla stomping it way through a city, I would think!

I understand what you are saying about the giant footprints they make...

Sting, for example, (I get to pick on him a bit even though overall he does do really great things...) has houses all over the world (ncluding London, CA, ...). He used to be vegetarian... I understand that he told the Miami Herald "But I only eat the animals I raise....I won't eat an animal that comes from a slaughterhouse. That's just disgusting." He really does LOTS of good for the planet and people. For just one example, he founded http://www.rainforestfoundationuk.org/s-index (an organization that works to protect rainforests and indigenous cultures.) He does much more good than harm (that I feel, outweighs the sort of stuff I call him on.)

The same tradition was observed among the divinities, so much so that the ancient goddesses appear alternately as the mother, the sister or the wife of masculine gods, having different ranks.

***That is why Anahita (Ânâhitâ), the Iranian goddess, sometimes appears as Mother Earth and the goddess of fertility and birth, and sometimes as Venus, the goddess of music, love, jealousy and coquetry.***

When she is the wife or mother of gods, her symbol is the moon, and when she represents the goddess of love and music, the planet Venus. http://www.cais-soas.com/CAIS/Religi...an/anahita.htm
