This is so sad. I am not blaming you, its your environment. American society is geared towards keeping the population ignorant about the world. An educated citizenry is not easy to manipulate.

Just know that Armenians and Iranians don't have any problems with each other. The last time Armenia and Iran had a political problems was back in 451 AD and they were not even Muslims back then. The Armenian community of Iran is very well respected, Armenians there are perhaps amongst the most respected in the entire Armenian Diaspora. Because there are some Azeris who think they are Turks in Iran, there are laws there against mistreating Armenians and vandalizing Armenian monuments. Nevertheless, during Armenia's war agianst Azerbaijan (Turkish Muslims) the only two nations that were helping us Armenians were Russia and Iran. As a matter of fact, the United States was aiding Azerbaijan.

Nations where Armenian Christians have been historically mistreated are in Turkic nations and Israel, nowhere else.

I could not be happier to find that my natural tendencies wherein I lean toward Iran/Palestine/Syria and away from Israel/America in most issues will not be banned on this forum. I so wish I have the money and the nerve to leave here and be somewhere more like minded. Surprisingly Iran is one of "top picks" for this pipedream at the moment, primarily because I perceive it as the virtual opposite of what I see here, not because of any actual data.

However I notice you suggest America is as your wife, so I shall endeavor to limit my railing against her.

I gave her the best years of my life. She has gotten really out of hand lately, so I'm just venting. I still love her though. She is a unique individual, there has been none like her in this world. She had great potential, but sadly she squandered it. She got herself involved with a nasty dangerous crowd and she is stuck with them. And now she is slowly heading towards disaster. She has also been quite disrespectful and hurtful towards my mother. Anyway, I am thinking of divorcing her and going back to Mommy...

Instead of Iran, don't you think visiting Armenia would be a better idea. There are many tour groups that go there from the States on a yearly basis, you could join one. That way not only with you discover Armenia, you would also be able to mingle with your long lost kin. I think part of the problem here is where you live. I have been all around the States. Don't take this personally but I don't see how intelligent/spiritual people survive in that environment.

Why Iran. Something along the lines of . . . the enemy of my enemy. I really have some anti-USA issues that just scream to be let out. But Idaho is the most conservative/red/republican/pro-Bush state in the Union, so everything must be stifled for fear of losing customers. Granted if I were to change my positions I would probably feel equally isolated and stifled in Iran (just a guess, not a judgement) but at the moment I would be free to sing my opinions and observations from the rooftops.

Why not Armenia. Because till I heard the rumblings of the HR, I hadn't much thought about my ancestral past. As I mentioned in another thread, I am the black sheep of my family. Not that I am bad, but I just would never shut up and accept the party/family line. My mother hated her parents so the party line was to hate her parents and disrespect them, and as expected one's like her then turn their hatred and disrespect on whatever is next in their scope; myself. So there has been little reflection regarding my ancestors on either side for years and years. But it is in my sites now, and I'm sure my pipedreams will begin to reflect that.

Notice also the continuous use of the term "pipedream." I don't want to "visit" anywhere. I want to move. With that in mind; I have not the resources to move to a country where I will be hobbled by language and culture and so much more I probably can't even imagine. Add to that my age, well, even given that I could conceivably live to 100 as my grandfather did, I'm still approaching an age of being useless to society, so I can't show up in some other country without the resources to support myself for 30-40 years since I won't likely be employable in a new country, too old to become a mate for anyone, I fear I would become a burden to that society, be it Armenia or any other.

I don't think is wise to describe yourself in such terms. Humans are meant to be unique. We are not meant to be like cattle. We should not fit any particular mold. Sadly, most people are indeed sheeple.

It's all very sad. But realize that most families, regardless of nationality, have internal domestic issues. However, "hate" within a family is not normal, or should not be normal. The very fabric of the family within the United States is falling apart fast. Most Americans I know are lost, they are just eating drinking working organisms with no intellectual depth or spiritual direction.

I still think you should take a few weeks off and visit the Armenian Republic with a tour group. You can also take a ride down to Iran, it's not to far away. You simply need to get out of Hicksville USA for a while. It will help you see what it is that you really want. And on a best case scenario you might just have an awakening, a personal renaissance. In the meanwhile, we'll train you here in how to be an Armo.

Perhaps you would do well to move to the east coast or west coast. You might like the States in the north east. But I do realize that even such a move would be very difficult. Yes, I agree. And I wouldn't know which nationality to blame if I tried to. I know I'm 25% armenian but the rest is pure heinz57 (ie mutt)

I have considered this; but in chatting with folks in forums from many places within the US, I haven't found like minded intelligence. Some may agree with some of my perceptions, but it is because they were taught to, not because they thought to. Does that make sense? I notice as you have that Americans in general (perhaps others as well but I have no exposure and therefore no evidence) do not think before they act, they have no commitment/accountability to their actions, and their ability to think beyond a one sentence spin line is virtually non-existent. What you call spirituality, I think I call depth. They lack depth.

I do need to move. As soon as I figure out where, I have no doubt I will head in that direction. Till then I am here and will make the best of my isolation. Though I am not a christian, perhaps a visit to the Greek Orthodox Church (for something other than their annual food fest) would be in order to also expose myself to the local community of Armenians. We will see.

Sorry I didn't notice your PS in my last response.

I'm not sure why it surprises me, but it sure does. I would say the source of my surprise is the lack of accurate information regarding most communities except American and European. Seems we get talking points about Asia, ME, and Africa. I always had the impression (even though I figured it was wrong I have never looked into finding the truth) that Iran was too tightly controlled to have any citizens that were not extremist Muslims.

It is sad but you are not an exception... Yes, Iran is an Islamic country, however that does not mean that minorities are being oppressed and despite its name, the people, generally speaking are not hardcore Muslums. As said earlier, Iranians have the highest opinion of Armenians and Armenians are amongst the most productive, and respected citizens of Iran.

So is polygamy practiced in Iran? If so is it practiced by all faiths in Iran or only some of them? Sorry, I've got such a rush of curiosities. And I am thrilled to have what might be the "horse's mouth" instead of propoganda and intentional mis-translations we get here.

It is practiced but not widely. Since it is directly related to the religion Islam and their prophet, so naturally it is only being practiced by Muslums and it's more common within the rich social stratas for some clear reason.

Who cares? But in my opinion it was a huge success for him; he got what he exactly wanted; popularity that is. People in some Arab nations swear by his name (there are even products named after Ahmadinejad), it also had a tremendous effect on his image inside the country, as I can see...
