  • Well hello there

Stumbled across this site and found it interesting to see there was a fairly active online community to be found here. Thought I might join to see where this takes me.

I am an Armenian citizen living in America... think that that will suffice by way of introduction; if I take it any further this post will degrade to an autobiography.

But I look forward to meeting some of you, and perhaps I will become a regular. Cheers.

      Re: Well hello there

Voch. I've never lived in Armenia, though I visit every other year. Born in Russia, lived in France for awhile.

And I'd like to maintain a neutral age and gender. I have found that it affected people's outlook on me in other forums, so I can be male is you wish.

"Western Assimilation is the greatest threat to the Armenian nation since the Armenian Genocide." This is clearly a crucial notion for you, since you chose it for your signature. Would you care to elaborate?

        ah okay...

Because it is. With assimilation your nation's numbers begin dwindling, you have the culture distorted by non-Armenians, research the term "White Genocide".....it's the same us massacring the nation, just done at a slower rate....

Genocide is organized and deliberate. This is more of an aftermath of the genocide.

I see merit in the idea, but there is a fine line between evolution and dilution. Western influence can serve to strengthen nations (take Japan, for instance). I think the main issue isn't the influence of other cultures, it's that once you leave the motherland there is little incentive to come back in terms of the life prospects it can offer. Family can root you there, but if one seeks employment, a good place to settle, it's not the foremost destination. That needs to be changed, but it's a massive problem requiring strong reform of resource allocation and mindset.

On a side note, I'm not entirely sure that Armenia isn't Western itself. Actually, in a modern context, what IS considered Western? Globalization has seen to it that most nations follow a traditionally Western template of governance. The Far East is Western; who's to say Armenia isn't?

It is people like Mos who are "the greatest threat to the Armenian nation since the Armenian Genocide" - they are partly responsible for the continuing mass mmigration from Armenia, and they are especially responsible for the most damaging loss, the loss of most of its better-educated young population who leave as soon as they are old enough to do so (who amongst them would wish to remain in a country ruled by criminal mafiosi and where social interactions are governed by a Mos-style Armenian Taliban).
