I dont think its a matter of religion alone, dear. Although its a big give away in the case of Jews! lol

I know a person (step relative) who has brown hair, blue eyes, fair skin, speaks only English, Ukrainian, and Russian, and was raised with a lie that he was Ukrainian instead of Jewish. He found out because somehow the kids in his class figured it out and started making fun of him! He came home upset and asked his family, "Im a Jew, arent I?!"

What a sad world we live in, guys....

Actually that is what my father said. When he was little some kids were taunting him, calling him a Jew. He didn't know what that meant so he went home and asked his parents. I guess that so traumatized him he decided he didn't want to be labeled. I would have at least investigated the religion to see if it was something to be proud of. I would at least say, "so my family are Jewish. So what?" But my Dad is a horse of a different color.

Well, we cant really blame them...it was a different time and place. I try to be sympathetic, although my first thought is "pathetic...".

I agree with you. It was a different place. That is why I love to study history. No one, no country is ever entirely good or bad. Things are never black and white.

However, my father does veer towards the pathetic side and for many reasons.
