  • Re: Neo Iranians: The Case of Azeri Turks

I think we can all agree that the Hellenic Influence at the time was great. It was the dominant culture of the old world. I don't think there is much to go beyond that.

As for "Iranians".... "Persia" was rules many times by different Irano-tribes (Parthians, Scythians, Medians etc). This all changed with the influx of mongol hordes and turks from the East. For instance the Timurid Empire, based out of what we traditionally consider Persia or Iran and was forged by Tamerlane who was of Turco-mongol stock. The dominant language however remained that of the irano-aryans (farsi i beleive its called).

To complicate things further the fall of the Timurid Dynasty saw the rise of the Safavid Dynasty. The safavids were of both Kurdish and Azeri stock. The azeri's are a branch of the Oghuz turks who migrated westwards with the rest of the central asian and Mongol tribes. The kurds are historically an Irano peoples, the Azeris are not. Currently I would say "Iran" is being ruled by irano-aryan people as the language persists. The azeri's however make upto 40% of Irans current population.

So i wouldn't consider Azeri's Neo-Iranians. There is still a strong presence of "Irano-aryans" there. The influx of turks though have changed the kinetics of the middle east and Central asia quite drastically.

No similiarities at all, huh oslonor?
Yes. they have similar helmets. But the Parthian has a nordic profile. The Greek has Meditaranean profile. They belong to two sub-racial types.

It is not really clear what you are trying to say??? Are you saying that Parthians were Greeks??????????????????????????????????????????? You can take as much space as you want and explain your points instead of talking in code words!!!!!

I'm saying you're an idiot for trying to define the sub-racial types of busts that were made thousands of years ago and thus subject to erosion and other forms of defect. And furthermore, even if the busts were in perfect condition, the final product is simply the impression of the artist about the subject, not a scientific log of the subject's racial characteristics.

You can't make sweeping generalizations about races and ethnicities - which have lived in close proximity for thousands of years - based on a few photos you found on the internet. Oh, and those white Persians are the exception, not the rule.

You are making many correct statements. But I have to correct your error.

          1. Azeri Pan Turks rule Iran at present time. Azeri Nationalist in Azerbaijan-Iran do not rule Iran. You confuse the two.

          2. Safffavids were Azeri Turks and murdered millions of Kurds and Zoarastrians. Saffavids had nothing to do with Kurds.

Yes. you are a real Anatolian. Kanki claims to be anatolian is not. She is an Azeri from Republic of Azerbaijan.

It is not a question of simple bust althoug I have presented many pictures of the faces of Parthians. There is extensive research in Russia on Parthians. They confirm what I am saying. Parthians had nothing to do with Greeks.

Wikepedia does. Check the Iranian section on Wikepedia. Afghans hate this "Iranian" label.

YOU provide the link. I'm not going to go searching around for some wikipedia article that may or may not exist.

There is a big possibility that the bust is just an Indo-Hellenic bust and has nothing to do with the Partians. We don't were it get's those pictures from.
