I know we come from different places. I am reinterpretting the basis of Abstract Expressionism as it relates to using action and expression by redefining things interms of control and lack thereof and the balance of the two. I know he does not do that because he is purely minimalistic. Hopefully, I can make that difference obvious. Until then I will continue to cry.
How does it not offend you when I say I want one of your square things? Haha. Next time I make a request for you to make one for me I shall say instead that I want you to make for me a reinterpretation of the basis of Abstract Expressionism as it relates to using action and expression by redefining things interms of control and lack thereof and the balance of the two.
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. -- F. Scott Fitzgerald

I make more paintings and try to show them and everyone says "Were you influenced by [insert bastard's name]?" or "Oh that's just a rip-off of [insert bastards name]" and I will say Rothko and Malevich a million times and nobody will care. Phuck! Now I have to refine my approach even though it is apparent that my purpose is difference from his. I do not know how to do that. I hope he bleeds to death from the eyes.
I never understood why artists shoot for a particular, or identifiable "style". I mean...shouldn't you just go for what you feel when rendering art? What if you invision something that doesn't match your "typical" work? Do you have to make it fit, or would you leave it as your imagination sees fit?
