Re: The Paintings of Dr. Jack Kevorkian

Vegetative state patients are a case apart, Kevorkian only dealt with terminally ill people who were resolute to put an end to their sufferings. People should be informed about the real chances of recovery and then it should be up to them - or to their close relatives - whether to choose the "do not reanimate" option or not. Cases like those you mentioned are more likely to occur when there's no clear regulation of the matter. Euthanasia Nazi-style, where doctors (or politicians) decide who's a "burden" on society is a no-no, like forced sterilization of genetic anomalies' carriers. As for those who "just" wanna kill themselves over psychological issues, well, I'd say they should be free to choose death but with no help from others.

And should a reformed mass murderer become a judge that makes laws to decide what is or is not murder? That, in essence, is what you are actually arguing for by bringing up the completely spurious "Euthanasia Nazi-style" issue. You as a German are not some born-again perfect being because your ancestors committed the most heinous crimes and you claim to have learned something from their actions. In reality, you as a German should have the decency (or the shame) to not trot out Nazi analogies.

I'm Italian, not German, lol. That said, I still think that someone who decides that someone else's life is not worth living (or is too expensive for the State's coffers) thinks like a Nazi. Are you sure you didn't misunderstand me? :P

Re: The Paintings of Dr. Jack Kevorkian

I think everyone here needs to remember something: Jack Kevorkian never killed anyone, never terminated the life. This is not euthanasia, it is "physician-assisted suicide." Read that phrase a few times.

          PHYSICIAN-ASSISTED SUICIDE

Kevorkian built what the media would later call "the death machine." If a patient is determined to end their life, but unable (or unwilling) to use the more gruesome methods people often employ, then he would wheel the machine in. The patient themselves would operate the machine, and the machine would administer a lethal coctail (I know "coctail" is spelled wrong, but the forum apparently won't let me type the ACTUAL spelling)...anyway, a coctail of medication which was designed to make the process as comfortable as possible. The patient kills themselves, Kevorkian provided the tools. Euthanasia is when one person puts SOMEONE ELSE out of their misery, which is not what happened here.

He did a good thing. RIP.

The seller probably assumes that that buyers will think that because Kevorkian is dead, anything with his name on it will increase in value. I doubt they will increase.
BTW, the art term for that sort of image is a metamorphic painting.
