UK though has a rather small Armenian population (e.g. only 589 Armenia-born people in UK). You come across Armenians often? So what happened to your ex, did she marry eventually? Of course, if she desired to have an Armenian family, she would have to marry an Armenian...

Well yes, Armenian culture is very family oriented and our traditions help keep our society in a better shape. Sometimes I wish our traditions were even more stricter.

Well, any Armenian women that actually wants to have an Armenian family will be looking for another Armenian to marry. I guess ones who don't care will be open to other options. Though if you like that culture/values a lot, you should look into Indian women, they are plentiful in the UK

Your ex should go to Armenia and find a good man, so she can have an Armenian family and give her parents what they always wanted

My ex and her parents were not concerned about whether she married an Armenian man or any other nationality, provided he was a decent man and that it was a loving relationship. Having good, healthy children was more important to her than having 100% Armenian ones.

I hope she is happy with whoever she eventually marries, irrespective of his nationality.

I think the Armenian culture is a good one because of the high moral standards and focus on the family that it offers, which contrast to how mainstream culture is in the country where I live (the UK). For instance because of what happened to her sister my ex was doubly keen to stay pure because she knew her parents badly wanted grandchildren and that they would never get them from her sister. So her sister's big mistake had a positive impact on her own morality and behaviour.

Unfortunately my ex and her family are the only Armenians I've ever met and even then, only the parents were actually born in Armenia, the girls were born in the UK. I would love to date and marry another Armenian but I am realistic, I know there are very few in my country so the chances are low

The last I heard, my ex was still unmarried, but was dating another Englishman.

Well I know very well about the marriage culture, yes such mistakes can make you unworthy to make a stable Armenian family, and either you marry someone who doesn't care about that or just live your life without ever having family. Remaining pure till marriage is very important and I'm glad that is an important element in our traditions. Unfortunately, some of the Western corruptions aim at destroying that in favour of the so called "sexual revolution". Though I'm happy to say such a revolution has not happened in our society because there's a movement among the youth to keep our traditional values.

What happened to her sister was really sad. She was dating a guy for a long time, I think they could have been engaged. They got drunk one night and had sex. He ended the relationship as a result. In the culture of her family, if a girl loses her virginity before marriage she is considered unmarriageable and also shameful/unclean and hence unworthy of dating. So she now lives as a lifelong spinster. She also re-trained to be a primary school teacher because she loves children and is resigned to never having them and that job is as near as she can get to having kids of her own.

As for my ex, no we didn't end it because she wanted to stay pure for marriage. As long as I felt that we might one day marry I was very happy with that arrangement because of course it's much nicer for a man if his bride is pure. And although she wouldn't have full sex or let me do certain things to please her, there were things she did to please me that like any man I enjoyed very much .

We split up because we jointly decided that there were too many differences in temperament between us for us to make a happy marriage. But I admired her greatly because she was a very honest, cultured, kind, family-oriented person and I would happily date and maybe marry an Armenian woman in the future if I had the opportunity.
