Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."

    Any of you is married to a Mexican or Latin people?

    just wondering...

    I know an Armenian is so fun. We kind of like each other. But honestly, I am not sure this can work in the next stage, since I learned that Armenian people is not very open to other cultures.

    any comments?

        This is America, there is nothing you can do to stop the new generation to become more open mind and "american".

        But I respect all that and in someway try to understand

          If you read Armenian history you will understand why it is so important for Armenians to keep their identity, best way of doing that is living in Armenia, second best, if an Armenian is outside of the Homeland, is to marry an Armenian.

          See if Mexico or some other Latin country's people lost their country or even if the majority of Mexicans were wiped out, their culture and the remaining Mexicans would be able to continue in the many other Latin countries and still have more less the same culture. With Armenia that is not the case, none of our neighboring countries nor any other country for that matter resemble us enough for the above scenario to work for us.
          For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
          to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

              Rejecting somebody just because of his/her ethnic identity is nothing but racism. Armanen is right, Armenians suffered so much in their history. Yet, interracial marriages shouldn't be an obstacle for maintaining a culture. If there is respect to cultures, no problem then. Interracial marriages are not assimilations as long as partners can live their cultures how they want.

                It's not racism (the most loosely used term ever), it's survival. Most of the non-Armenians would not want to "become Armenian" therefore it is not acceptable. Either your partner will assimilate into being Armenian or nothing.

                  Racism is when you deny someone rights or benefits, or give them preferential treatment based on their race.

                  Marrying someone within your own race/culture/ethnicity is not racism . Not only does it preserve culture, but it's a good way to ensure compatibility with respect to traditions and common upbringings of offspring.

                    Very well put KanadaHye, Armanen and Federate. You each gave very good answers and your points well put and taken.

                    You see Jimm7 and Folk, our country unfortunately was build more than seven thousand years ago, we thaught the world calendars, agriculture, building structure and armaments. Our country was the cradle of civilization, intelligent little people but right in-between the crossroads between Asia and Europe, and because of it the barbaric mongolian turks and the seljuks charged in to our country constantly annihilating our people, the Greeks and the Babilonians/Assyrians and now we have such a small country called Armenia that it has merely 3 million people; the rest of us are in the Diaspora and we don't wish to be completely wiped-off from the face of the earth by not preserving ourselves, our culture and our blood. Since the 7 million of us live outside and most of our people were annihilated from 1915-1923 (more than 1.5 million of us) by the turkish government of the time, that gives us more reason to want to preserve our identity, our blood and our culture. The only way we could do this is by inter-marrying. However that does't mean that we don't help, like, befriend and respect other nationalities and or cultures; it just means that for the above good reasons we wish to preserve our identity as a nationality by intermarrying.

                    Jimm and Folk; For your information there are numerous Diasporan Armenians that marry outside of their nationalities anyhow. Not everyone tries to preserve their nationality. Many intermarry with Americans, Canadians, French, Spanish, Mexicans, Blacks, Arabs, J'ewish and the list goes on and on.
