Well I can't find any threads on this specific topic, so I taught
I should make one, as we all know Armenians have a good record
in sports, and educational activities, so I taught I would post some
news and updates on the athletic activities of Armenia.

Armenian Boxer Wins Gold Medal



Armenian boxer Karen Ayvazyan (51kg) won a gold medal
in the Youth European Boxing Championships Szczecin (Poland).
In the final Ayvazyan defeated Grigoriy Nikolaychuk (Russia) 7:1.

Ayvazyan’s medal is the only Armenian boxers gained in the
championship. Armenian national team was represented by 8 boxers.

Azeri To Referee Armenian Football Players



Azerbaijani FIFA referee Venera Muradova will referee the
matches of 10th Group of the qualifying stage of the Women’s
U-17 European Football Championship, Trend News reports.

Armenian, Russian, Spanish and Serbian teams are involved
in the 10th Group.

The matches will be held from October 23 to 30, 2009 in Serbia.

David Nalbandian: “My Goal Is To Re-enter In Top-10”



Argentinean (Armenian born) tennis player David Nalbandian
(operated in May) hopes to train again ten days from now to
prepare for the Australian Open tennis tournament, he stated.

“My goal is to re-enter in Top-10, maintain my position and win
&‘Grand Slam’. And undoubtedly, Davis Cup is still my dream.
It was very difficult to bend to be bent on operation.
I tried to buy time as far as possible, but felt pain while
playing and could not go on like that. There was no way out,” Nalbandyan said.

He should come down here and work his ass off like me on the Island of Key west with average humidity of 78% and temperatures of 95 degrees at night! Where you sweat just standing still.......reminds me of Fiji. I must admit though, Mickey likes it

Wish him good luck……Australia is just coming out of winter so the weather conditions should not be a big factor.

Armenian Basketball team HATIS defeat 103:99 Russia’s Chekavata team in European Basketball Cup. Next game is against Turkish Beşiktaş team.

Հայաստանում աշխատող մարզիչներից ամենաէմոցիոնալը թերեւս բասկետբոլային մարզիչ Գիա Ղազանչյանն է: «Հատիս» կանանց թիմի մասնագետը Եվրոգավաթի «Չեվակատայի» հետ խաղի ընթացքում այնքան ակտիվ էր եւ այնքան էներգիա ծախսեց, որքան շատերին բավականացնում է ողջ մրցաշրջանի համար:

«Իրոք շատ նյարդային հանդիպում էր: Խաղի վերջին րոպեներին ես գերլարված էի, սակայն դա կարող էր խանգարել սթափ որոշում կայացնելու համար, քանի որ վերջին րոպեներին պետք էր ճիշտ որոշումներ կայացնել, այլապես ռուսները կկորզեին հաղթանակ»,-նշեց մարզիչը:

Վոլոգդայի «Չեվակատայի» գլխավոր մարզիչ Ալեքսանդր Երմոլինսկին «Հատիսի» կրած պարտությունից հետո խիստ անտրամադիր էր եւ զայրացած, սակայն կարողացավ պատասխանել լրագրողների հարցերին:

Մարզիչը նախ իր կարծիքը հայտնեց հանդիպման մասին. «Շնորհավորում եմ հայկական թիմին: Այն էնտուզիազմը, որ ես տեսա Ձեր երկրում՝ ինձ զարմացրեց: Շատ լավ է, որ այսպես հաջող եք սկսում ելույթները: Նախքան այս «Հատիսի» մասին շատ քիչ բան գիտեի եւ մեզ համար դժվար էր պատկերացում կազմել մրցակցի մասին»:

Երմոլինսկին նշեց, որ «Չեվակատան» հասցրել էր ուժեղագույն կազմին վերականգնել այս խաղին. «Կադրային խնդիրներ մենք չունեինք, թեեւ նախքան այս խնդիրներ եղել էին: Եվրոգավաթում մեր կողմից հայտավորված 16 խաղացողներից 12-ը մրսած էին, սակայն աստիճանաբար վերկանգնվեցին եւ վերջին օրերին մենք նորմալ մարզվել ենք»:

Անթալիայում ընթացող ուշուի Եվրոպայի առաջնությունն այս մարզաձեւի պատմության ընթացքում վատագույններից մեկն էր, թե ոչ վատագույնը։ ArmSport.am–ի թղթակիցը մրցավայրից հայտնում է, որ կազմակերպիչներն ամեն ինչ արել էին, որ Հայաստանը բավական ներկայացուցչական հավաքականը ձախողվի։



Մրցավարական ճչացող սխալները բավական շատ էին, թեեւ առաջնությանը ներկա էին Եվրոպայի ուշուի ֆեդերացիայի նախագահ Ռայմոնդ Սմիթը (Մեծ Բրիտանիա), գործադիր կոմիտեի անդամներ անդամներ Գլեբ Մուզրուկովը (Ռուսաստան), Պետրու Գրինդիանուն (Ռումինիա), Պատրիկ վան Կոպենհաուդ (Բելգիա) եւ Բեքիր Համեդօղլուն (Թուրքիա)։



Առաջնության մրցավարական կոմիտեի ղեկավարն էր Գլեբ Մուզրուկով, ուշու–սանդայի մրցավարական կոմիտեն գլխավորում էր Պիտեր Վորը (Մեծ Բրիտանիա), մրցավարական կոլեգիան նախապատրաստել էր ղազախստանաբնակ, Գերմանիան ներկայանցող Ալեքսանդր Ռադունցեւը։ Վերջինիս պատրաստած մրցավարական կոլեգիան աշխատեց բավական կողմնակալ եւ անգրագետ՝ թույլ տալով բազմաթիվ կոպիտ սխալներ գրեթե բոլոր մենամարտերում։



Մի շարք մասնագետների կարծիքով, առաջնության սանդա–ուշուի գլխավոր մրցավար Պիտեր Վորը կաշառված էր Թուրքիայի ուշուի ֆեդերացիայի կողմից։ Համենայն դեպս, մի շարք երկրներ հրապարակավ հայտնում էին իրենց դժգոհությունը եւ բարձրաձայնում կողմնակալ մրցավարության մասին։ Եթե Վորը կաշառված չէր, ապա նվազագույնը հաճոյանում էր կազմակերպիչներին։



Հաշվի առնելով, որ Պիտեր Վորն անարդարության ամենամեծ մեղավորն էր ու չպատժվեց Եվրոպայի ուշուի ֆեդերացիայի կողմից, կարելի է եզրակացնել, որ նա կատարում էր հենց եվրոպական ֆեդերացիայի ղեկավարության հրահանգները։



Ինչ վերաբերվում է կոնկրետ Հայաստանին, ապա ըստ երեւույթին, Թուրքիան նպատակ ուներ ամեն կերպ ձախողել եւ նսեմացնել Հայաստանի թիմին, որը կողմնապահության պատճառով կորցրեց 5 մենամարտ։ Թեեւ, հանդիպումները տեսագրվում էին մի քանի տեսախցիկներով (այդ թվում Հայաստանի ներկայացուցիչների կողմից), սակայն դա չէր խանգարում մրցավարներին կայացնել ապշեցուցիչ որոշումներ։



Այսքանով հանդերձ, Հայաստանը կարողացավ մեծ թվով մեդալներ վաստակել (11), որոնցից 2-ը՝ ոսկե։ Վստահաբար կարելի է ասել, որ եթե առաջնությունը Թուրքիայի փոխարեն կայանար այլ երկրում, ապա մեր ընտրանին անհամեմատ շատ չեմպիոններ կունենար։

Russia, Armenia agree to Olympic cooperation

YEREVAN, July 17 (RIA Novosti)


Russia and Armenia signed in Yerevan on Saturday an agreement on
cooperation between their national Olympic committees.

"In the Soviet era, Armenia was a republic with huge sporting
traditions," President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander
Zhukov said at a press conference after signing the agreement.

"All sportsmen used the base in the Armenian town of Tsaghkadzor for
high-altitude training. This contributed to the success of the USSR in
the 1968 Olympics in Mexico," he added.

Zhukov said that such training is still in demand today, and should
not be restricted.

"We must make the most of the opportunities that Armenia can provide.
For our part, we are ready to invite the Armenian athletes to Russia
for joint training," he said.

Zhukov also said the sides had discussed a project to build a sports
base near Lake Sevan in Armenia.

"It [lake] is 1.9 km (1.1 mile) high so could be a good addition to
Tsaghkadzor," he said.
