Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Road trip eh? I'm up for it. As long as they don't stop me at the border because I'm born in Syria. Probably somewhere in North America this year, and Europe later.

As for Hakopyan...I'm guessing he's going to be surpassed by Ronaldo. Oh well. 45 goals should still get him a good shot with a strong team (hopefully).

IN OTHER NEWS: Armenia's junior futbol team beat Cyprus's junior team 3-1 today. The game's second half was cancelled because of heavy rain though.

This is the junior squad. They usually always precede the A-teams.

        Check www.a1plus.am

Always good to have more than one side to a story, and they have by far the best coverage for sports.

Yea, it's a well made site. Bad english translations, but most people who read it probably read it in armenian anyways.

Alright, any guesses for our game versus Hungary? I'll go for a 2-1 upset in favour of our guys. Goals by Manucharyan and Melikyan.

davay, I'm out too. Gotta translate two Tumanyan stories (Barekendan and Kikosi Mahe) to arevmtahayeren, and transform them into plays so my talented cub scouts can present it to my not-so-talented cub scouts...

i guess im back. heh. got bored.

thats a very optimistic outlook. i am gonna have to say a 1-1 draw. with manchuryan scoring.

those are two of my favorite tumanyan stories. good luck

but i must say frankly baron jan i dont approve of translation from one dialect to another. it kills the charm, and what is the purpose, i am sure they would understand what is going on without translation. this is not directed just at you but also to some other western armenians i know. for example I did a play last year of ankhelk marte and the director for some reason insisted that it be translated to arevmtahayeren. It pissed me off because it kills most of hte stories essence and charm and i am sure that people would understand it anyway without translation. sorry if that was a little repetitive heh.

Alright. Only will Armenians move from futbol to the translation of Tumayan stories, and then back to futbol.

Here is my humble opinion on the issue...

The state of the armenian language in Montreal (and even more so in Toronto) is deplorable. Knowing these kids, I can conclude that while they would understand the jist of the story, there are many key words that they wouldn't understand. If it were just me telling them the story, I would've kept the arevelahayeren version, because God knows that I've always been a defendant and admirer of the beauty of both dialects. However, the people presenting this will be 9-10 year old kids, who have not had much contact with arevelahayeren in their life. My goal with this is to get these kids to actually KNOW who these authors are. In school, they learn useless biographies which they forget the next day. This way, these stories (and their authors) will be forever etched in their memories, and armenian culture will not be the subject that they are forcefed at school (as hard as it is to admit, that IS the case), but will actually become something fun, and entertaining, and of which they can truly be proud.

My second "strategy" behind this whole thing is that they will first be introduced to the original version, and I will explain the words that they don't get. Then, a few of the cubscouts will present it in the arevmtahay version, as it will be easier for them to say, and will look more natural, which will make the kids enjoy the "play". With this constant shift from one version to another, they will already (and unknowingly) be more familiarized with arevelahayeren.

Now I am preparing these for our winter camp this week, where there will be no parents. Hopefully, by the time we get to summer camp, they will already be ready to act out the arevelahayeren version in front of the parents, and they will actually understand it COMPLETELY.

Now, as promised...back to futbol. 2-1 is quite optimistic, I admit. A draw is probably more logical (if not a loss ) but this is probably the youngest Armenia squad we have ever seen. It can either flop because of the lack of experience, or be a quick, agile, and hungry team. I'm betting on the second option.
