  • Looks like Manucharyan will end up in Bordeaux...

Young Armenian futbol star Edgar Manucharyan is probably going to end up with the Girondins of Bordeaux, which would be pretty big news if the deal goes down. There was quite some hype and excitement about Manucharyan on the Bordeaux fansite forum.

He had a trial with the team, and impressed management. He also impressed the management of Lens, and more notably, Ajax of Amsterdam. Now I can't confirm this, but rumour has it that he declined an offer from Ajax (!!!!!). It is not clear if the offer was for the youth team, or the pro team, or whatever. He had previously been approached by Manchester City (not United) though it is not clear where that went..

While Ajax is seen as the better team, I think that Manucharyan playing for Bordeaux might be a better move for him at this stage in his career, simply because he will be in a very good team, where he would also get a chance to play (and not be on reserve all the time).

Anyways, let's hope the deal gets finalized soon. If it doesn't, let's hope some other strong club will take him.

Jilbagh: Bordeaux is part of the french premier league (highest level).

dstyle: The only time I've seen him play, he was a substitute for FC Pyunik, and played for the last 30 minutes or so, against FC Rejkjavik. And I can say that he was creating things around him, and definitely stood out in the game.

Armenia's national team coach Mihail Stoichita has compared him to a young Gheorge Hadji. Coming from a Romanian, that should mean something.
