still undefeated
At Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Undefeated southpaw Vic Darchinyan retained his IBF/IBO World Flyweight Titles against the Philipino born Glenn Donaire by a unanimous technical decision after 6 rounds had been completed.
Darchinyan dominated the entire fight never losing a round and knocked Donaire down late in the 4th with a hard right hand. The bout was stopped due to a suspected broken jaw suffered by Donaire during the 6th round. The referee ruled an accidental headbutt had taken place, so we then went to the scorecards.
Tho of all the replays that were shown on tv, no accidental headbutt could be found. The bout should have been scored as a TKO win for Darchinyan, but it did not matter as all 3 judges scored the bout a complete shutout in his favour after 6 rounds, 60-53. I also had scored the bout 60-53 up until that point.
Darchinyan would next like to either unify titles in his Flyweight division, or move up to Super Flyweight and face Mexican rival Jorge Arce.
Darchinyan with that win rises to 27-0 with 21ko's, while Donaire falls to 16-3-1 with 9ko's.
