It's not just authority. Non-moderators who are long-time members w/ relatively high post counts can be and are given just as much weight.

It's true though, the mod team have a particularly powerful arsenal (**cough**Anon) regarding these rep points :P

why are we limited in how many comments we can leave per person. what if there are only a few people making posts worthy of an individuals positive response?

It's funny how this forum follows rules. In the other forum I post in, reps are a form of communication; just a way to say something to the poster. We never, ever use rep to say, "Nice post! Great contribution!"

But yeah, follow the rules here. I don't want this forum to go down like the others.
