We see this occasionally, members who quote part or all of another member's posting inside their posting, but alter the original quoted text, mainly for snide or malicious reasons, so that it appears to a reader that someone had written something that they actually had not.
I suggest that any cases of this behaviour should result in an immediate ban for the fake "quoter" since what they are doing amounts to fraud, as well as being a blatant misuse and abuse of the forum's "quote" function.

It would also be useful if all posts containing quotes or material from any external source are required to acknowledge the original source or be deleted.
