Looking for the survivors from Sumgait and Baku

Hi. I'm creating a web-site dedicated to the victims of the pogroms in Sumgait and Baku. It will be written in the Slovak language that is understandable to the Czechs and to the other Slavic people, too. I would appreciate if people who survived those pogroms - or their kids - could send me their stories in one of the following languages: English, German, French, Russian, or Ukrainian. I can speak all of them. I already collected some stories from the refugees from Baku, but I think the more stories I publish, the better - so people can read about it and never forget what has happened. Half of my family - the Armenian side - are refugees from Baku. I would never learn about the pogroms if I didn't became part of an Armenian family. That's why I want to make sure all the Slovaks and the others learn what happened. I would translate your stories to my language. I know it must be very hard to get back to those days in your memory - my relatives don't want to talk about it too much - but I think it's very important to get those stories out and put it online. the way I can help is to recommend you these two books which are in armenian -hope you read armenian and/or there are people around you who do
1/ karapagy azadakragan baykar, published by a group of authors under the supervision of Zori Palayan, and
2/ haverjutyan houchamadyan, a personal work of Sassoun Krikorian, it is a huge book of more than 1700 pages which includes all known armenian victims of wars since the armenian liberation struggles-fedayeen period- up to the artsakh war including ww1, ww2, afghanistan, etc, with articles, pictures, and has, as the book above, a part dedicated to both baku and sumgait massacres with pictures and names

Hi vasbourakan1, unfortunately I do not speak Armenian (yet ) BUT one day hopefully I will (it looks like quite a difficult language to me), however, thanks a lot for your suggestion, I definitely will make a note about it and hope one day I will be able to get back to it. I collected some stories already from couple of people from Baku - one is worse than another one - and I already translated it to my language. I still am working on the web-site so if there are any suggestions from anyone I gladly will listen to it. Thank you once again & wish you all the best.

thks, you can also consult Tatul Hakobyan's book 'ganach ou sev' or in english 'green and black' where the forth chapter is dedicated to the sumgait massacres. I suppose you can find it in english (I have the armenian version) since the author collaborates to the Armenian Reporter in USA. the book relates the minutes of the Artsakh problem since early 1988's until today

Recently I read it on the website that when azeris in Baku went after every Armenian house to search and kill all the Armenians in Baku, they would gather up around Armenian women, undress them completely then they have burned their naked bodies with cigarettes until they died. Then they chewed up some Armenian men; their whole bodies bit by bit just like a hungry animal like a lion or a tiger would do. Yes, such unspeakable barbaric acts were committed against the Armenians in Baku.
