I know very little about ancient Caucasian albania, the land occupied by what's called "Azerbaijan" now, but it seems the direct descendants of this ancient land are still living, although they're on the brink of assimilation due to so few numbers, only approx 9000 people! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Udi_people And their language is still spoken till this day.
I find it fascinating that such ancient people can still exist. I guess if Caucasian albania saw us today, they'd also be fascinated that we still exist after +2000 years?

caucasian albania was not one nation. there lived many tribes and one of them was udins and also lezgins. they were christian but not orthodox, they were gregorians like you (armenians). today many udins lives in kahketi village oktomberi

The wik article referred to above is not correct in its conclusions.
About 7th century a large group of people showed up in the area between the watershed of what is now called Georgia and the Caspian. Those are the people being referred to as old Abanians( not what the called themselves ) then.
They pushed us back and occupied much of baboonyvill to qabalo.
After much fighting an agreement between us and them was reached and a deal aw struck.
We lived in relative peace for awhile and then deals were broken and the pushed into Artakh little more.
Then we finally pushed them back out of Artskh etc. .
That is when some of these historians start their narrative.
The Udi speak a form of old " Albanian " .
The Udi are a mix of those original group and an Iranic people's that we're the emmediate precursors of the
Parthia/ Persia movement.
The Udi�s will tell you that themselves.
The Talish and other related people of region are Udi plus turco or a three people mix.
The Albanians that preceded these people were not original occupants.
Look to our battles approx. 7th / 8th century to see who they were.
Look to first appearance of Udi's to see our first troubles with Parth/ Pers types, and look to Talish etc. appearance to see our first troubles with Turcos .
We had kingdoms in those places that have never been found and aren't even being sought or thought
