    Me too, but I don't want to presume :P
    For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
    to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

          Hi I am originally from Armenia. Just to note that in all Armenian passports the surnames are spelled with yan in English section. I don’t know why though. But it does not make mush difference ian and yan are pronounced the same 

            Hi there, what do you mean they do not end in ian? If you mean the surnames such as Adonts, Ayunts, and so on this could be linked to the local dialect these families originally come from, these endings show belonging and it means that person belongs to that family. You can hear such surnames quite often in Armenia. I hope this clarifies a bit? But yet there are surnames such as Rshtuni, Pahlavuni which I am afraid I cannot explain.

              They all mean 'BELONGING TO", and where theres no ending it still can be considered with an ending like ian.
              "All truth passes through three stages:
              First, it is ridiculed;
              Second, it is violently opposed; and
              Third, it is accepted as self-evident."
