Haha, they were close to being normal, sticking together for 16 years because "good Armenians stay married" even though they ruined eachother's lives.

Fortunately or unfortunately the above is a true statement in most respects.

        Meet #3.

American culture encourages this type of thing, and I don't think it's that uncommon for an Armenian's parents to be divorced (at least in America).

Sorry to hear that Yerazhishd, Pepsi and Jgk3. Even though some Armenians divorce in America also; but I think to a much lesser degree. I believe that couples should try very hard to stick together also for the children's sake. Though "patsaroutyunnere harkeli en"; which means there are some very sad and very destructive circumstances that parents should divorce when their union becomes very destructive and unbearable for them and for their offsprings.

yeah, I agree Anoush. But you know, so long as the children still find respect for both their parents, I consider the parents to have succeeded. I respect my parents (even though they will sometimes beg to differ to this claim of mine, haha) and can get on with both of them. I know some people who's parents are still married but are hard to respect as they are keeping to mindsets which lead to abuse (whether towards themselves or to their "loved ones"), dishonestly, keeping a defeatist attitude towards their life's dreams or goals, etc... These kinds of behaviors found in a household are hardly good examples, these are failed role models in my eyes for the children, who's only chance is to outgrow their parents someday and "become their parents".

In my eyes, the above situation is a greater mark of family dysfunction than the mere condition of having divorced parents.

The better successful marriage counselors or psychoanalysts would agree with your thoughts above, and in this case the good old Armenian way of not divorcing under any circumstances is not the right way. Children also need a saner, happier and a more thriving atmosphere whereas more or less both parents are happier people than not, and happier and saner people will obviously become better role models and can create a safer and a more loving atmosphere for their offsprings. Children also need guidance, and if the parents are constantly putting each other down in front of the children, or being dishonest with their lifestyle or through their hate being abusive towards each other; then that atmosphere becomes a poisonous atmosphere for the children. In that case it is far better to divorce and become better human beings for themselves as well as for the childrens' sake.

Well, perhaps it was better for them to having divorced Sero, did you ever think of that? It's true, it takes a braver person to divorce when they see that no good is coming out of a bad marriage.

You're funny Sero; sometimes I wonder but no.

He's not really political, although he uses the various political organizations/people to help people around the country. He's a very admirable Armenian and overall human being.
