What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

Over 24 Thousand Historical and Cultural Monuments Registered in Armenia

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ There are 24 143 historical and cultural monuments on the territory of Armenia at present and they are described, examined and protected by the state, head of the Agency for Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments at the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of Armenia, professor of architecture Artem Grigoryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. In his words, New monuments add to the already registered monuments each year.

«Our Agency works to study and describe monuments not only in Armenia, but also abroad, especially in countries bordering Armenia. The latest forum of the ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) in Beijing in 2005 adopted a resolution on restoration of the temple on Akhtamar Island in Turkey. According to the rules, Armenian restorers and architects should take part in the restoration works. However, as we do not have diplomatic relations with Turkey, the Armenian party addressed the UNESCO for assistance and, as you know, we were on Akhtamar a few times. The works are suspended now and it is not clear when they will resume,» Grigoryan said.

Statements on Azeri Monuments Being Destroyed in Armenia False

Statements on Azeri Monuments Being Destroyed in Armenia False
/PanARMENIAN.Net/ There are no monuments of Azerbaijani culture in Armenia. On the whole, the concept «an Azerbaijani monument» is not used by the historical science, head of the Agency for Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments at the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs of Armenia, professor of architecture Artem Grigoryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent. In his words, on the territory of Armenia there are Muslim architecture monuments dating back to 17-19 centuries. «The largest out of these is the Blue Mosque in Yerevan, which operates of Iranian people living in Armenia. There is another mosque in Agarak, which is dilapidated. Works are carried out there to specify the time it was built. There were many mosques and burial places on the territory of Armenia – almost all of these were demolished during the soviet rule. By the way, Christian temples shared their fate,» Grigoryan remarked.

When commenting of Azerbaijanis' statements that Azeri monuments are destroyed on the territory of Armenia, Grigoryan said it is lie – at that a deliberate one. «They know very well that they lie to their own people, however that is the way their propaganda machine works. If they say it as they do not know history, the worse for Azeri historians and political scientists. If we pay attention to every ignorant statement of Azerbaijan's historian, we will be putting ourselves on the same level with them,» Grigoryan emphasized.

No One Destroyed Muslim Culture Monuments In Karabakh

NO ONE DESTROYED MUSLIM CULTURE MONUMENTS IN KARABAKH

Yerkir
22.02.2006 12:28

YEREVAN (YERKIR) - The Nagorno Karabakh Republic has an Agency
for Preservation of Historical Monuments and the Armenian Agency
cooperates with it and helps it, head of the Agency for Preservation
of Historical and Cultural Monuments at the Ministry of Culture and
Youth Affairs of Armenia, professor of architecture Artem Grigoryan
told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

"The NKR is a normal state with all attributes. There are monuments of
Muslim culture and cemeteries that no one destroyed,"
Artem Grigoryan
said. In his words, colleagues from NK ask the Agency to identify or
describe some monument rather frequently.

There are two mosques in NKR. One is in Shushi, the Blue Mosque - a
monument of Iranian architecture of shah Abbas II (17th century). In
the words of leader of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic
Church, archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, once willing to restore the
mosque the Iranian party got the agreement of the Karabakh party. It
should be added that the only building that remained in Aghdam is
the mosque.

Delegation from PACE to Visit Nakhichevan

YEREVAN (Armenpress/Public Radio)--A delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Culture and Education Commission has agreed to visit the Armenian cemetery in Old Julfa this spring to study the destruction of Armenian monuments there. After their visit, the delegation will prepare a report about the protection of the remaining Armenian monuments.

Former member of the Armenian delegation to PACE Shavarsh Kocharian told today at a press conference that he has presented to the Council of Europe Ministers Committee a project on "Urgency of Preventing Final Destruction of Armenian Cemetery in Old Jugha."

Kocharian also said that Europe welcomes dialogue about the matter and does not tolerate such barbaric acts. He said that the report adopted by PACE will have great importance in the maintenance of Armenian cultural monuments.

Stepan Demirchyan, current member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, met with Europe PACE General Rapporteur on Cultural Heritage Edward O'Hara in January and reported that O'Hara agreed to survey the destruction Azeri troops have caused sometime in May.

The cemetery includes cross stones from as far back as the 7th century and is revered as an architectural treasure. International concerns were raised in 2002, when hundreds of the cross stones were destroyed by Azerbaijan.

The cemetery, home to more than 10,000 individual khatchkars, suffered its worst attacks starting late last year. Azeri forces were captured on video, crushing hundreds of the crosses and loading the rubble onto trucks.

Nakhichevan is a historic part of the Armenian homeland and was an integral part of the first Armenian Republic of 1918-1920. It was arbitrarily severed from Armenia and placed under Azeri rule as part of the Soviet Union's accommodation with Kemalist Turkey and Moscow's "divide and conquer" gerrymandering of borders to facilitate its control of the region. During the Soviet era, the indigenous Armenian population was driven out of Nakhichevan due to discrimination, economic pressure, and other policies advanced by the Soviet Azeri authorities.

What "Azeri" Heritage?

If anyone takes the "Azeri" claims seriously, they are real dumdums.

What "Azeri" heritage?

A nation called "Azeri" has NEVER existed throughout human history on this planet at least.

Nuri pasha, the half sibling of that genocidal monster Enver headed the Turkish invasion of the Caucasus, Baku to be specific, in 1918.
In March of that year he named the bogus state "Azerbaijan", just like that.

The term "Azeri" to identify the savages who were called Tatars of the Caucasus was invented in 1936. I am not sure about this last date. Anyone knows more is welcome to clarify this further.

Once again I quote Luigi Villari from his observations of the region in the early 20th century:

"The Tartars having no civilization of their own, imitated that of Persia, just as the Turks adopted an imitation of Arab culture."
Four things denialist Turks do when they are confronted with facts:

I. They change the subject (e.g. they copy/paste tons of garbage to divert attention).
II. They project (e.g. they replace "Turk" with "Armenian" and vice versa and they regurgitate Armenian history).
III. They offend (e.g. they cuss, threaten and/or mock).
IV. They shut up and say nothing.

Noravank Monastery To Be Included In Unesco World Heritage List In 2007

Yerevan, June 16. ArmInfo. International experts are developing a
plan of management of Noravank monasterial complex in the territory
of Armenia, which will allow to include this monument in the UNESCO
World Heritage List, says ICOMOS expert David Michelmore.

He says that the monastery may get into the list in 2007. The Armenian
authorities have already applied for the inclusion but there are
still some problems with management, tourist routes and agricultural
activities in nearby villages. In order to resolve these problems
almost 10,000 h around the monastery and 5 nearby villages will be
declared as a specially protected area.

Noravank is one of the best known monuments of medieval Armenia. It
is 122 km away from Yerevan. It was built in XII-XIV and was the see
of Sunik bishops. The most ancient part of the complex St. Karapet
was built in IX-X.

To remind, already on UNESCO list are Hakhpat monastery (II-IV),
Echmiadzin Cathedral and Churches, ruins of Zvartnots (II-III),
Gegard monastery.

RESTORATION OF AZERI CEMETERY WAS ONE OF THE KEY ACHIEVEMENTS OF 2006

Yerevan, February 2. ArmInfo. Last year, for the first time since the Karabakh war, we restored the Azeri cemetery of the former Azeri village of Saral, presently, Nor Khachakap, says the head of the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly Artur Sakunts.

The project was finished in July 2006. The cemetery has been visited by representatives of ICRC, local authorities, Culture and Youth Ministry, Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan. "We should pass from discussions to specific actions in forming atmosphere of mutual confidence between the conflicting parties and organizing meetings aimed at overcoming mutual distrust. We must show that we are not barbarians," says Sakunts.

Wow, thanks for sharing that Gavur. Makes me want to pull my hair out that while we're restoring their cemeteries they're bashing ours to pieces, and distorting the Armenian churches in Azerbaijan as "Caucasian Albanian"...
