Re: Georgia Accused of Bullying Ethnic Armenians

The current Armenian administration is not only corrupt but weak it seems. The Armenians could make mince meat of the Georgians yet they have chosen not to engage them as they, the Georgians, encroach into Armenia. There is no excuse for this. The Georgians are envious of the Armenian triumph in Artsakh while they themselves lost both Ossetia and Abkhazia. They make a measily $70mm on oil transit fees, enough to sell their souls. They have thrown in their lot with the Turks and Azeris. They claim to be a nation of warriors but they are in foolish drunkards and lousy soldiers. They talk a big game but cannot win on the battlefield. Armenians have had enough. Yes, things are difficult and the last thing Armenia needs is another war but our history shows us that when we come together and fight, we win. When we listen to outsiders to remain calm, work within the system and avoid war, we lose. It's time for Armenians to nip this in the bud. I'm living in the diaspora, so yes, it is easy for me to write these things. I only hope Armenians in Armenia realize what is at stake and what they must do. I, like other Armenians would love to see an alliance of Russians, Georgians and Armenians but as I've written above, the Georgians have betrayed not only us but themselves, they have aligned themselves with not only our, but their historical enemies and tormentors. They have gone out of their way to make life in Armenia difficult so they need to realize there is a price. Armenia can make their lives difficult too.

They got what they deserved by the Russians in August,
let's just hope this thing settles down or we should continue
      helping Russia.

This may seem like a distant dream but can be achieved should the Russian and Armenians fight again...which is coming closer everyday.
Why do you think Russia didn't simply go all the way in that war and close off all of Georgia's connection to the Black Sea? It would have had a land connection with Armenia, which would have given it much better access to it's other important ally, Iran. It would have essentially controlled Caspian Oil since nothing would have been able to go through into the International market without it's consent....which means they would also have a lot more leverage towards Turkey in any future disagreement....everything would have pretty much gone in Moscow's favor. I'm pretty sure taking over the other half of Georgia's seaside land wouldn't be that tough...probably even easier than the first half since by then, the Georgian's had already retreated and weren't even making an effort to fight.

If they had done so, I would have felt a lot better about Armenia's future, It would have secured a lot for Armenia.

I accept: Georgian newspapers have barely mentioned the affair, and a high-ranking official at the interior minister said officials were deliberately not releasing a lot of material so as not to “make a lot of noise about this, as it is an isolated case of Russian spies trying to work in Samtskhe-Javakheti”.
Some Armenian politicians, however, have been furious and said the arrests were an attempt to intimidate their ethnic kin in Georgia.
Georgia’s state minister for re-integration Temur Lakobashvili said Russia had intensified espionage activities in the country since the August war over South Ossetia.

Georgia is being stupid yet again, it has isolated itself from the EU and now it is isolating itself from Armenia...what does the current Georgian government have? A death wish?

No, just a fatal attraction with Israel. Georgia is/was not/never Europe.
