There's always increased activity at the border when such meetings take place. Aliyev thinks that by shooting one of our soldiers, he will be able to persuade us into giving karabakh back.

In regards to the talks, right now the world powers are comfortable with the status-quo. They don't want a war or a change in the current situation. All they want is stability in order for the regional projects to go forward. In my eyes, all these talks are for show that something is happening in terms of negotiations, but this is a well frozen conflict that's going to stay in a stalemate for some time, unless something drastic happens.

If this is the case would there be motivation for foreign powers to pressure them to stop to the extent that they want these meetings to take place/for there to be dialogue between the countries if Armenia boycotted the meetings in protest?

Yeah, the motivation is the preservation of the status quo which is coming under more and more threats of being broken as the violations continue. But everything would be done covertly, no one would publicly single out one side to stop firing. The public never knows what they talk about in these meetings. All the public knows is that violations have not been stopping and perhaps it is time for Armenia to take a harder stance on the issue. As for a boycott, we attend these useless meetings just for the sake of attending, but a threat of a boycott can be easily done. If we managed to boycott a NATO meeting a few weeks back and come out unscathed, this should be child's play. But I think it's a longshot.

In the other page of this thread, there's a bunch of these photos but they are all kinds not just smiling. If it indeed does get brought up, it is not being taken seriously because it continues to happen every time a meeting date approaches. Perhaps a tougher stance is needed. There's really nothing that can be done about ceasefire violations other than making foreign powers put pressure or threatening Azerbaijan to stop.

On its face (bc lack context), I would say yes. Do we know that it doesn't get brought up? It should at least be discussed - what can be done about these ceasefire violations? Investigating individual incidents, etc.
Isn't it also media opting to use photos like this where it looks like there's good/improved relations though?

Nah it's not, no Armenian president or official would find that funny. This meeting between Aliyev, Medvedev and Serge took place around the time an Artsakhtsi soldier was shot dead by Azerbaijan. Our soldiers are usually picked off before or during important meetings between the three. The message by 7or.am is that Serge seems to never bring this up or boycott the meetings for it but rather, has snapshots of him laughing and enjoying himself (of course out of common courtesy).

I wanted to hear thoughts on the message, basically if SS should take a harder stance on these ceasefire violations infront of the other two leaders.

Kocharyan to my knowledge is an avid skier, to bad...I wonder how Serzh and Aliyev are able to be together, after the BS and insults aliyev says about armenia, they seem like they are a bunch of friends getting together. Would you imagine Arafat with Sharon like this?

SS didn't ski, he prefers the snowmobile. Only Aliyev and Medvedev skied. A major fail in diplomatic relations?
