Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Javakhk Fundraiser

Whats goin on my Armenian brothers and sisters? My name is Nishan Sahagian and I'm from the Boston, MA area. I'm in the process of starting a fundraiser dealing with the plight of the Armenians in Javakhk. I'm in the process of creating a flier that explains the situation, why help is needed, etc... to circulate at church. I go to ST. James in Watertown MA and St. Gregory the Illuminator in Haverhill MA(used to be Holy Cross in Lawrence before the merger) for church.

I need assistance though. I need to find a group/organization/person that is an activist leader on the Javakhk cause. I need to know where to send donations to after they are collected(i.e. what group?). This will help speed up the process on my end. That way, my Der Hye can get to work on spreading the word through sermons and church fliers. I know my dad and uncle, who are on the parish council at St. Gregory's, are on board with support and think it's a great idea.

If anyone on here knows of someone I can contact about this, please drop me a line on here, or you can email me at my families email address [email protected]. Thanks for the help guys.

A good cause indeed. Please let us know where we can make donations? Perhaps set up a paypal account so that people not in your local area can also donate.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

            Aysor
            July 22 2010
            Armenia

The Armenian-populated Javakhq (Javakheti) of Georgia continues meeting
serious obstacles imposed by the Georgian government: in addition to
reduction of hours of the Armenian language classes at the Armenian
schools to the minimum, there was also issued a blacklist of Armenian
history and language teachers, told Thursday media a Republican,
chairman of the Javakhq Charitable Fraternity Union, Shirak Torosian.

"All those persons who have been making efforts towards preservation
of national identity, language and culture, were put on the blacklist,"
            said Torosian.

He said that teachers, who were dismissed, have no right to work at
Georgia's schools at all. "All these actions are aimed at distorting
of the national identify and creating an atmosphere of fear," stressed
Torosian pointing that the recent policy which is being implemented
by Georgian government, has gone too far.

In addition, Armenian language and history teachers of Javakhq are
deprived of possibility to take retraining professional courses
            in Armenia.

"The Georgian side said that the retraining center will be established
at the place; however, it's very difficult to say what on basis
that will be provided and what specialists will lecture. There is an
indisputable fact that the teachers are deprived of the right to take
the retraining courses in Armenia," pointed out the lawmaker.

Anti-Armenian. Interessting. The Armenian government is not pro-Armenian either. If we were to compare who is more anti - Armenian, the Armenian state or Georgia or Russia or France. I would say the Armenian state. So what do you expect from others if you don't have respect for your own people? Armenia is pretending to be the ultimate victim. This is not the case. I also don't underst...

Shirak Torosyan, a pro-establishment lawmaker in Armenia with links to Georgia’s Armenian populated region, believes the Armenian Apostolic Church has felt the bitterness of the latest revisions made by Georgian legislators in the recently amended Civil Code more than the other four minority religious communities that are beneficiaries of the legal status granting provision.

On Tuesday, following days of protests and discontent voiced by the Georgian Orthodox Church and the broader public, the Georgian Parliament moved to make some clarification in the legislation that was amended only last week to entitle all religious organizations that enjoy legal status in Council of Europe member states and have presence in Georgia to register as legal entities of public law in the South Caucasus state. The latest changes, however, curtail the powers given to these religious organizations. In particular, according to the revised law, a concordat (agreement) can be signed only with the Georgian Orthodox Church, and the concordat between the Georgian Church and the State was signed in 2002.

“There are up to 6,000 legal entities of public law registered in the country. But only one legal entity of public law has a constitutional agreement with the state – this is the Georgian Orthodox Church. Due to the form in which corrections were made in the law we can again emphasize the special status of the Georgian Orthodox Church,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker David Bakradze as quoted by the Ekho Kavkaza website. “The clarification of the legal status of other religious organizations does not at all mean that the State takes any material liability in respect of these organizations, especially at the expense of the Orthodox Church,” stressed Bakradze.

Thus, according to Torosyan, the new changes minimize or practically reduce to zero the possibilities of the Armenian Apostolic Church taking possession of any of hundreds of Armenian churches that exist in Georgia.

The other religious organizations, according to the Armenian MP, do not have that problem, because, he says, for example, the difference between a xxxish synagogue or a mosque and a Christian church is distinct.

“One can say that the Catholic Church, more or less, does not have this problem either, because we all remember how last year Akhaltskha’s Yerevman Sourb Khach Church (Holy Cross Church of the Manifestation) was handed over to the Catholics,” says Torosyan.

In his opinion, the latest legislative amendments are another anti-Armenian manifestation of Georgian authorities.
