What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

House leaders may schedule vote on Armenian Genocide resolution on December 22nd
    December 22, 2010 - 09:20 AMT 05:20 GMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - The U.S. House of Representatives will likely have its last opportunity, before adjourning, to hold a vote on the Armenian Genocide Resolution on Wednesday, December 22nd, when the House leadership is expected to schedule a series of votes on legislation, including a measure that would provide additional health benefits for 9/11 first responders, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

"We look to Speaker Pelosi to do the right thing and allow a bipartisan majority of her House colleagues an opportunity to vote to end Turkey's gag rule on American recognition of the Armenian Genocide," said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian. "It's long past time for the U.S. Congress to honor the victims and the last remaining survivors of this crime."

I highly doubt US will ever recognize the genocide. They are allies with the Turks, they have bases in Turkey, there's no way. While other countries like in Europe have the balls to do so, US doesn't. Even with such a powerful Armenian lobby.

If US didn't have such a powerful Armenian lobby, Armenia would probably been stepped on by the US and their turkish friends.

Seriously, it has almost been a century since World War I and Armenians in the U.S. have been wasting resources year after year for how many years now? The Turkish military even supported America in the Korean War. I would like to know what makes anyone think that the U.S. will ever recognize the Genocide yielding land rights to Armenians when the powerful Yewish lobby is trying to control every piece of real estate on the planet.

When you don’t want people to get involved with serious issues, you have to give them substitutes to keep them busy with something else or keep them dormant, for some people it’s the drugs, for the others it’s the alcohol, some it’s the sex if they can, and if not, they have the soap operas, and for Armenians it’s the recognition of the AG by the USA, as if it will change anything.

High-tech lobbying efforts continuing until last minute on 'genocide' bill
          Wednesday, December 22, 2010
          ISTANBUL – Hürriyet Daily News

A high-tech lobbying battle involving Twitter, U.S.-Armenian socialite Kim Kardashian, the Turkish ambassador to Washington and NBA star Kobe Bryant has once again been put on hold in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Virtual swords began swinging mid-December when the largest Armenian lobby group in the United States, the Armenian National Committee of America, or ANCA, launched a web-based grassroots campaign to urge the House to pass an "Armenian genocide" resolution before the current Congress adjourns.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a strong supporter of the Armenian cause, offered a discussion of the draft resolution on the bill but it was still unclear Wednesday whether the draft would be put to the House on the final day of the current session.

U.S.-Armenian celebrities also put their efforts into generating support for the resolution, with TV celebrity Kim Kardashian last week sending a message to millions of her fans on the social-networking website Twitter asking Pelosi to schedule a vote on the bill. System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian also made a similar move.

Even Turkish Ambassador to Washington Namık Tan took action on the possible vote, using Twitter to announce that the embassy would do everything to prevent the vote and that it would follow the process very closely.

Tan was still calling Congress members in person Wednesday and sharing the latest developments via the social networking website. He was also using the site to thank Turkish organizations in the U.S. for their support.

Armenia claims that up to 1.5 million Armenians were systematically killed in 1915 under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey denies this, saying a much smaller number of deaths were the result of civil strife that erupted when Armenians took up arms in eastern Anatolia.

Who knows what else is going on behind the scenes in Washington...

Re: December 22 possible date for Genocide recognition by the US

Look at what cheap "arguments" the Turks are using:

            Dear Congressman Boehner,

We are writing to urge you not to be influenced by Armenian activits for yet another vote on H. Res.252.
The supporters of H. Res. 252, about the so-called “Armenian genocide”, are attempting one more time to obtain the vote by US Congress.

Do you know who backs this resolution?

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is the branch of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).

Mourad Topalian, chairman of ANCA from 1991 to 1999, and who has still a prominent position in this umbrella, was sentenced by Ohio justice in 2001 for illegal storing of war weapons and explosives, linked to a terrorist organization.

Hampig Sassounian, member of ARF and of its terrorist wing(“Justice Commandos Against Armenian Genocide”, JCAG), was sentenced to life in 1984 for the assassination of Turkish general Consul in Los Angeles; Mr. Sassounian received, and still receives, a constant and unconditional support from both ARF and ANCA.

            _of_Parole.pdfhttp://www.ataa.org/reference/Supporting

            _Documents_Hampig_Sassounian.pdf

Such crimes and glorification of crimes should surprise nobody: on December 24, 1933, seven members of ARF assassinated brutally the archbishop L. Tourian during the mass, and were sentenced by New York justice for this crime; their lawyer’s cost were entirely paid by ARF.

Actually, ARF, especially in USA, supported vehemently the Nazi regime.

ARF turned to a pro-American and pro-Western position around 1948, but chose openly the Soviet side in 1972, and remained in such a position — with few clashes — until the end of 1980’s.

The Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) is dominated by Ramkavar party and includes the Hunchak party.

Both supported strongly USSR during the cold war.

The Hunchak party supported the Armenian Secret Army for Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) and the Ramkavar allowed some of his prominent members to support Armenian terrorism of 1970’s/1980’s.
            Why is this resolution unacceptable?

This draft, copy of propositions made in 2007 and 2008, is misleading, both from legal and historical perspective:http://www.tusiad.us/Content/uploaded/ERMENI.PDF

In a democracy, it is not the politicians who write history, but historians.

It is absolutely false to assert that all the historians use the“genocide” label; in fact, the majority of scholars with a specific qualification to deal with Ottoman history reject, or at least criticize, the “genocide” label for the Armenian case; the list includes Gwynne Dyer, Edward J. Erickson, Jacob C. Hurewitz, Bernard Lewis, Guenter Lewy, Justin McCarthy, Andrew Mango, Norman Stone, Malcolm E. Yapp and Gilles Veinstein.

In UK, in both houses, the efforts of the spokespersons(Supporting Armenian claims) have always failed because it is an accepted fact that the historians do not agree on these false claims and that thousands of Turkish people suffered massacres in the hands of Armenian terrorist/activist during the same period(see above sources).

In France, the majority of the most prominent historians created an association claiming the suppression of “memorial laws” and the end of ethnic lobbying in Parliaments:

This initiative was supported by the American Historical Association.

The French National Assembly, frequently mentioned by supporters of Armenian claims in USA and some other countries, published in 2010 a report, written by his president, Bernard Accoyer, concluding that no more “memorial laws” should be voted, especially about Armenian case.

There is no legal, ethical or historical reason to jeopardize the US-Turkish relations in accepting the claims of Armenian nationalist associations, whose fidelity to US values and interests is more than questionable.

            Respectfully,

            (Siz buraya kendi adınızı yazın)

Time runs out on US Armenian genocide resolution

                By DESMOND BUTLER
                The Associated Press
                Wednesday, December 22, 2010; 7:46 PM

WASHINGTON -- U.S. lawmakers have avoided a diplomatic clash with important ally Turkey by deciding not to take up a resolution declaring the mass killings of Armenians early last century a genocide.

Supporters of the resolution made a push for approval in the final days of Congress, despite opposition from the Obama administration.

The measure was strongly opposed by Turkey and the administration feared it would have damaged relations with the NATO ally.

The House of Representatives ended its two-year term Wednesday without taking up the matter. It is unlikely to be passed when Republicans take control of the chamber in January because the new House speaker, John Boehner, opposes it.

Very much expected - there's no way US every recognises genocide - they are spineless that will just bend down to Turkey for everything.

Have to admit, Turkey controls a military that can ruin oil prospects in the Middle East for the UK and US oil tycoons with a single command.
