You can only imagine how often these dogs did this in Petersburg where no doubt the money and influence of their faamilies kept them out of jail. Just a shame that prisons in the UK probably won't provide these 4 nice boys with "special friends" which they might find elsewhere.
Four wealthy Russian students who filmed themselves gang-raping a teenage pupil at their private college were condemned by a judge yesterday for taking advantage of the girl while she was drunk.
The men used an iPhone to record the 2.5 hour sex attack during which they gave a running commentary, before showing the film to fellow students.
Oleg Ivanov and Gregory Melnikov, both 23, Norayr Davtyan, 22, and Armen Simonyan, 19, took turns to rape the 18-year old A-level student from Malaysia. They are all boarders at Bellerby's College, an international "university preparation" college in Greenwich, South London, with fees of up to £30,000 a year for tuition and accomodation.
The group of Russian law studentshad arrived in Britain days before the attack in January. Davtyan,Ivanov and Simonyan filmed each other the night before, bragging about what they planned to do.
The next evening, the college held a disco, while Davtyan, an international water polo player, held an impromptu party in his room. Simonyan was a youth-team player with one of Russia's top football teams, Zenit St. Petersburg.
Police thought that the victim may have had her whisky spiked before she was raped. Video footage on Davtyan's iPhone showed all four men attacking the girl.
Peter Clement, for the prosecution, said:"It is real time evidence provided by the defendants themselves. Members of the gang watch each other, encouraged each other, and gave a running commentary."
Early on in the attack Ivanov is heard saying: "she's crying". Another attacker replied:"What do you care, you are not going to marry her." Davtyan, the ringleader, dismissed the girl as "just a xxxxx". He warned the girl against going to the police as: "You will be in shame if you report it"
The victim, from a wealthy, conservative family, told police that she recalled going to Davtyan's flat after the disco, having a second shot of whisky and being sick. Mr Clement said: " The next thing she recalled was waking up, now naked, with Davtyan on top of her having sexual intercourse". She told police:"I just wanted to close my eyes. I just wanted to die." Sonia Woodley,QC, defending Davtyan, said the evening had "got out of hand" and the students had "taken advantage of a young woman who had too much to drink".
Judge Peter Thompson said the verdicts meant the jury did not believe that the girl had been given a sedative and were not sure the rape was a "joint enterprise" planned in advance. He added that the "intellectually gifted" men were seen celebrating like a professional footballer scoring a goal, while their victim had been left with "extensive psychological injuries".
After an eight week trial at Woolwich Crown Court, Davtyan was convicted of two counts of rape and jailed for ten years. Melnikov was convicted of rape and attempted rape and jailed for nine years. Ivanov and simonyan were found guilty of one count of rape and were each jailed for eight years.
