Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I'll like to hear from others like Vrej who might know more about that aspect of it. Though my knowledge of that aspect is limited, it seems to me there aren't too many other ways that this project gets built. Without outside support on financing, the construction of a billion dollar project doesn't seem feasible by our government, especially when they have just gotten finished financing the North-South highway from outside sources.

To me, seeing how the project doesn't exist as it is, and the only way that it is going to exist is by outside help, I don't find it that egregious that Armenia might not directly profit of it, seeing how it doesn't currently exist anyway. More important that the direct profit is the ease of doing business in Armenia, of transporting and export/importing good for your business. Meaning its crucial to see this project built, and more of a secondary matter as to were the direct profits are going.

South Caucasus Railway (SCR) Closed Joint-Stock Company has the right to operate the Iran-Armenia railway, SCR General Director Victor Rebets told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The aforementioned right is reinforced by a trilateral agreement, which was signed in early 2013 among the Transport and Communication Ministry of Armenia, the Rossiya investment company, and the SCR.

The SCR parent company, however, has not yet decided on whether to participate in this project.

So far, it has been decided that the CCCC Chinese company will take part in the construction of the railway.

SCR has negotiated with the industrial palace of Iran concerning the organizational matters.

As per Rebets, according to preliminary estimates, the project will cost more than $3 billion.

Russia not decided on funding of Armenian railroad section – South Caucasus Railway

    January 04, 2014 | 13:18

YEREVAN. – The Russian railways have not yet decided on the funding of the construction of the Vanadzor-Fioletovo railroad section in Armenia.

“South Caucasus Railway” Closed Joint-Stock Company General Director Victor Rebets told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In Rebets’s words, although the technical and economic bases for the project are ready, no decision was made along the lines of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to Armenia.

According to the latest estimates, the construction of this railway section may cost $200-250 million. The amount of funding will depend on the construction of tunnels and the options for the route, since it will pass through mountainous terrain.

The 37.8-kilometer-long Vanadzor-Fioletovo railroad section will close Armenia’s northern railway link and reduce, by 70-100 kilometers, the freight route between capital city Yerevan and the Georgian border.

The number of those who approve of the opening of the railway, decreased by 2 percent compared to a survey conducted in March. At the same time, the number of opponents increased by five percent, Georgian media reports.

NDI study was funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

Expert: Abkhazian railway unlikely to be opened soon

YEREVAN, December 20. /ARKA/. Arthur Ataev, senior research associate at Russia’s Institute for Strategic Studies, said in his online interview with Novosti-Armenia that the Abkhasian railway is unlikely to be opened soon.

“This is not feasible in the short term and may be in the long term as well,” he said. “Abkhazia’s stance is mixed.”

More than that – the project needs so much investment that even large geopolitical players can’t afford to embark on it.

“I recently attended an event where a study on this problem was presented,” he said. “Some sections of this railway are missing and some other parts need dismantlement. This is a very expensive regional project.”

Bidzina Ivanishvili, a former prime minister of Georgia, spoke about some possibility to restore this railway link as visited Yerevan in January 2013.

The idea of opening the Abkhasian railway, which is very significant for Armenia, was discussed also by Armenian and Russian presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin in Moscow on September 3.

Online news conferences are being held as part of the joint project of Region Research Center (Armenia) and the Institute for Peace and Democracy (Azerbaijan), which is supported by British embassies in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Arthur Ataev, senior research associate at Russia’s Institute for Strategic Studies, said in his online interview with Novosti-Armenia that the Abkhasian railway is unlikely to be opened soon.

But I must apologise for slandering Armenia's criminals unjustly. In the above example they only billed for a highway that was 10% wider than what they actually constructed, not a third wider. Also, my "A project that nobody wants and nobody needs and that is only "great" and "wanted" if you are part of Armenia's criminal-political class" referred to the proposed railway project.

The Tsitsernakaberd Highway has two lanes in each direction of traffic. In accordance with state standards the width of each traffic lane must be 3.5 meters. Accordingly, the width of the road must be 14 meters.

Nevertheless, when measuring different segments of the traffic lanes, we couldn’t find any stretch of the road where the right lane was more than 3.4 meters, while the left lane was never more than 3.15 meters. The width, or to be more precise, the narrowness of some segments was 2.8 meters.

At some parts of the road, for instance near the speed camera and under the bridge, the average pavement width was 12.5-12.8 meters.

Thus, the width of Tsitsernakaberd Highway, which is two kilometers long, is 1.5 meters (around 10 percent) less than it should be according to state standards.

    Now Mr. Cancer
I know you're an expert in everything, including other peoples profession, that you just read about in the past 5 minutes, but read and compare to what $239 million has done in Armenia by AremeniaFund:
