I heard about this yesterday as soon as I got an alert from CNN, and I was watching CNN for a while where a plane in Texas was circling and then landed safely, and right after this they reported a crash and mentioned Armenia I couldn't believe it and was shocked. Very sad.

I'm reading some news today that are saying terrorism is being ruled out, yeah I think it's very clear that bad weather + poor aircraft maintenance + shoddy airport = disaster.

I know now Armenians will be blaming left and right, but seriously there should be some standard in Armenia's aircrafts. Plus these aircrafts are bought cheaply from some eastern european countries, so maintenance is even more important.

I don't think it's a maintanance issue...

I want to disregard some facts heard so far... some say the plane hit the water at 60deg. angle... The weather was bad enough not to let anyone see what happens 6km off shore.

Most propably it's a pilot error or they run out of fuell.
Pilot error is more probable becasue in ase of they would run out of fuell, the pilot would just land the plane on the water. The only thing I can come up with now is that the pilot overbanked the airplane and stall it. Let's wait and see.

That's true, how could they have seen that far in such weather to report accurate angles.

It may have been pilot error, although I don't think it was due to fuel. The distance wasn't very long, and from what I read they didn't circle very much so there would have been plenty of fuel, I would think. Unless they took off not full?

Besides, how would you land an airbus on water?

what are you talking about standards. the plane was built in 1995, that is pretty young and it had no technical problems. and its on lease not bought. they dont fly planes that are falling apart. i know how everyone loves $hitting on Armenia and everything Armenian but give it a rest...

I am not from Armenia so maybe YOU know more... but I am not xxxxting on Armenia.

I've been to Armenia two times, and both two times one flight was done by an Armenian airplane, and during the entire flight it feels as if you are going to crash. I've asked others and they say this normal. That shouldn't be normal. They're probably better now, I don't know.

I keep explaining to my american friends that generally there is no lack of maintance and security at Zvartnonts.. I cannot make them understand that if a plane crashed which took of lets say from LAX or JFK (hope it never happens) generally noone from tech stuff with be careing about the passengers (don't get me wrong, read to the end) but when a plane takes of from Zvartnots you have 95% armenians in it, and most probably anyone who live in yerevan will be able to identify someone in a particular flight that he or she knows somehow (even not directly), so I know the DO CARE.

It's too sad what happend, but this kind of stuff is happening not only in Armenia, and unfortuanatly will keep happening, like the car accidents on the roads...

very sad story! There was a family of 6 on board ... my heart goes out to the family members!!
