Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

For example, you'd think everytime the Swiss freeze the bankaccounts of "dictators" there would be some backlash but instead it seems "dictators" are really just little bunny rabbits for their masters

my point is that government form doesn't constitute if a country is war like or not. If you are a powerful country, you are naturally going to be warlike as you will want to spread your influence and secure resources for your country.

The government form just dictates the manner in which the people are controlled. Geo politics dictates where and how wars take place. Wars are just used to surround resources or herd people out of the way so resources can be exploited or land can be transferred. The soldiers are usually unaware of the reasons they are at war since they are merely deployed to strategic locations and given orders. Civilians are the means of producing goods from the resources once they are secured. If you are looking to increase population, you'd want to make sure the resources are going to the local people and not being sold out to foreign elements.

And so how can democracies be the most warlike government form? I'm referring to Haykakan's post. Exactly geopolitics and also economies influence conflict and wars, doesn't matter what country you are, or what kind of government you have, that is irrelevant when it comes to the reasons for war.

Well, the U.S. and its allies are by no means a model for democracy since there are only 2 legitimate parties to vote for. For example, you'll never see a party composed of doctors and health care officials run on a platform based on improving the health of a country or a party composed of engineers running on a platform to improve the infrastructure of a country.

Truly, I think above the democratic model exists a further layer of control which never really leaves power and above that are still elements of monarchy.

Mos if you look at history all the way back to Greek city states-you can compare how many times democratic governments declared war vs monarchs-dictators-thocracies.. you will find that democracies were willing to go to war far more often. The system inherently is more warlike because those who have a interest in going to war will buy off whoever they need so a war can happen. A great example was Haliburton and its multi million dollar payoffs to the likes of xxxx Cheyney and friends. That happens much less in monarchies and dictatorships because monarchs and dictators see themselves as responcible for the country and they themselves will profit or lose as the country wins or looses. A dictater or a monarch usualy ties his fate with the country where as polititions know their shelflife is very limited so in a democracy the polititions are more likely to take the money and run since their fate is not tied to the state as much.

The nature of political game requires that even the most trivial platform - ie. "let's all get rich at the expense of someone else" - must be coated with big, noble-sounding words. Plus, professionals seem to be quite reluctant to form parties (with the exception of lawyers and psychiatrists).

And you're totally right, even in the best democracy, true power is not in the hands of "the people", but in a more or less small élite of rich dynasties and corporations (America) or in a party bureaucracy that controls state-owned industries and access to resources and jobs, or in a combination of both systems.

The common person regardless of whether they live in a 'democratic' country or not, doesn't know much, if anything, about foreign policy, geopolitics, military affairs, economics, law (domestic and international), etc. So why would anyone in their right minds let the uneducated masses vote for the 'leader'? Many of the important things in life require one to pass a test and show proficiency. For example, if one would like to drive an automobile or fly a plane, he takes courses and then has to pass a test. Yet, putting someone in office for X amount of years as the head of one's nation is given to anyone over a certain age. It just seems idiotic and fishy to me.

For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

100 MILLION BAILOUT: EU THROWS EURO LIFELINE TO ARMENIA

                    21.02.11

The European Union has agreed to spend 100 million euro (about $137
million) to help Armenia recover from recession.

The EU is to provide up to 65 million euros in loans and up to 35
million euros in grants, the bloc's executive, the European Commission,
                    said in a statement Friday.

The aid is conditional on Armenia's willingness to cut debt, reform
pensions and the tax system and improve auditing of its public
                    accounts.

A 40-million installment of the EU money is set to be released once
the Armenian parliament approves the terms of the aid package, while
the rest of the funds are set to be paid out in late 2011.
