For those that don't know what Panoramio is, it's a way to upload your own pictures onto Google Earth and you pick where to place them so that when people are browsing and want to see pictures of an area, they can come across your picture and see that area.

That's how I came across these, I was checking out Yerevan and clicking around the random pictures.

Azerbaijan wants Arte TV to remove film on Karabakh

The Azerbaijani embassy in France has demanded that Arte TV take what it describes as a one-sided film about Karabakh off air and off its website.

Sources in the Azerbaijani embassy in Paris say that they have already protested at the channel's film Haut Karabagh: Gomchassar, 1 news.az reported.

Embassy officials asked for the film to be taken off air and off the Franco-German channel's website.

"We said in our letter to the administration of this TV channel that such one-sided films would not promote a resolution of the conflict.

"When Azerbaijan is suffering the occupation of part of its land by Armenia and has about a million refugees, the broadcast by Arte TV of material that does not reflect the reality of the conflict challenges the impartiality of this channel. This film may have been made under the influence of the Armenian lobby," the sources in the embassy said.

The Azerbaijani embassy in France has invited journalists from Arte TV to Azerbaijan to make an unbiased film on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"We demanded that the TV channel take a balanced approach to the Karabakh issue and invited them to Azerbaijan. We are currently waiting for their response to our proposal," the embassy official said.

Haut-Karabagh: Gomchassar is part of an Arte series on Mountains of the World.

A French-language three-minute clip from the 40-minute film can be seen on the Arte website. It gives a simplified, Armenian view of the conflict over the territory.

The voice-over presents Karabakh as Christian land - "The Soviet authorities integrated this Christian Armenian land into Muslim Azerbaijan" - without mention of the historic mosques of Karabakh or the centuries of the Karabakh khanate.

I hope the body of this animal won't be returned instead buried somewhere with no name and forgotten.
They will make a national hero out of him (already done...) and use it further for their anti-Armenian purposes.

The Karabakh Liberation Organization has picketed the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry to protest at Armenia's failure to hand over the body of a soldier.

Private Mubariz Ibrahimov was killed in an incident on 18-19 June on the contact line separating Armenian and Azerbaijani troops. Four soldiers of the Karabakh forces also died in the clash.

Demonstrators today carried placards saying "Give the hero's body back".

Deputy Defence Minister Vagif Mammadov and ministry spokesman Eldar Sabiroglu went out to talk to the demonstrators. The pickets voiced concern at the ineffectiveness of the ministry's actions and called for clearer measures.

Earlier in the day, the Karabakh Liberation Organization picketed the Baku offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross to protest at the Red Cross's failure to have Ibrahimov's body returned. The demonstrators chanted "Karabakh or die!" and "Get lost, Red Cross!". They chained together the doors to the Red Cross office and threw away the key.

"We closed the doors in order to demand the rapid return of Mubariz Ibrahimov's body to the Azerbaijani side," KLO Deputy Chairwoman Gultakin Guliyeva said.

She said her organization had protested to the Red Cross before but nothing had been done.

Azerbaijani users of famous social networking website Facebook have opened a new page devoted to ensign of the Azerbaijani army Mubariz Ibrahimov, who was killed on the frontline in a shootout with Armenian troops in Chayli village of Terter region on June 18.

Everyone who is not indifferent to heroic act of Mubariz can express his/her solidarity and learn a lot of interesting things about him.

At the moment, the page has 871 fans.

Mubariz died heroically after he killed four Armenian soldiers and injured four more in an armed clash at night on June 18. He was later shot by the Armenian side and his body still remains on the territory controlled by Armenia.

Mubariz was only 22 years. He was born in Aliabad village of Bilasuvar region of Azerbaijan. He grew up in a deeply religious family.

He was a brave and a patriot boy who since childhood chose become either a military man or a sportsman.

Mubariz Ibrahimov had 22 years old. at 19 june 2010, 23:30 And this man crossed the mined 1 km area on his own and killed in the first wave unbelievable damned enemy soldiers. Then fights against one army with the enemy's own weapons for 5 hours on his own. Enemy could kill him in the morning only and he died as a martyr but left 50 -124 armenian soldiers killed it is not totally known for us how many enemy he killed. Just armenians wanted to decrease the number of loses but couldnt because the number was so great and now Armenia regret giving his body to us... He reached his wish... When will we reach ours like this...................

Armenia Says Ball On Azerbaijan's Court

The president of Armenia today said that his country has accepted the proposals made in St. Peteresburg and is waiting for Azerbaijan to express its position on the St. Peteresburg proposals on how to solve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Speaking in a youth camp on the shores of Lake Sevan president Serzh Sargsyan said that during the meeting in St. Peteresburgh Armenia and Azerbaijan had to express their positions if they want to continue the negotiations based on the new proposals. He told the youth movement Miasin (Together) and a large group of young Armenians visiting from the diaspora that Armenia's position is that the proposals made in St. Peteresburg give a good base to continue the negotiations with Azerbaijan.

"If Azerbaijan says that it accepts the Minks group principles then the negotiations will continue, if no, then other avenues will be chosen. Yes, the negotiations are continuing. There are the latest proposals that have been made in St. Peteresburg. We say that that document gives an opportunity to continue the negotiations. Let's see what Azerbaijan says," said president Sargsyan answering to one of the questions raise by one of the young people.

He also reminded that the conflict resolution should be based on three principles: territorial integrity, self-determination right and non-use of force.

Indeed the ball is on Azerbaijan's court and it's up to Azeri leadership to make the next step. What is interesting here is the level of constructiveness that president Sargsyan demonstrated today. He spoke about all three principles including the territorial integrity. The problem is when the president or the foreign minister of Azerbaijan speak, they only speak about the territorial integrity.

Azerbaijan never talks about the principle of non-use of force and hardly mentions the principle of people's right of self-determination.

When it comes to non-use of force by Azerbaijan, forget it. Almost every week one can read about the threat of use of force if Nagorno Karabakh does not withdraw its troops from liberated territories. When it comes to self-determination, Azerbaijan talks about it more like granting, rather than respecting that right. They only talk about it in their own terms: self-determination within the territorial boundaries of Azerbaijan. What self determination is it anymore?

Thus, it's Azerbaijan's turn. Can its president Mr. Ilham Aliyev talk about Nagorno Karabakh people's right of self-determination and non-use of force as openly and democratically as the president of Armenia mentioned all three principles together? Let's wait and see.

Statements by Ter-Petrosyan, Mammadov much alike, expert says

The statement, Armenia has more need for the corridor between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan than Azerbaijan, is not made for the first time. It is an integral part of Baku’s information warfare,” political scientist Yervand xxxoyan told NEWS.am commenting on the statement by Novruz Mammedov, Head of the foreign relations department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration. Earlier Mammedov stated that Armenia has more need for the corridor and the Armenian leadership has created a great obstacle for their development, closing the way of development for a long time. He also noted Armenia has not and cannot have the development in this region without Turkey and Azerbaijan.

According to xxxoyan, Armenian First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s statement that Armenia has no future without resolution of Karabakh conflict and normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations also contributed to Mammadov’s statement.

“The statement by Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Mammadov are much alike. However, it is a manifestation of information warfare, intended for domestic policy,” xxxoyan emphasized.

On July 17, at the 16th congress of the Armenian National Movement (ANM) Party, Levon Ter-Petrosyan stressed without the settlement of Karabakh conflict and normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, Armenia has no prospects for security, economic development and improvement of demographic situation, regardless of who will lead the country.

It’s unacceptable to honor schizophrenics, says ARFD leader


“It’s unacceptable to award the title of Country’s Hero to schizophrenics like an attacking Azerbaijani or a killer of a sleeping man,” said ARFD leader Vahan Hovhannisian at the press conference, referring to the recent announcement that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliev is awarding posthumously the killed Azerbaijani diversionist Mubariz Ibragimov honoring him as the National Hero of Azerbaijan.

Mubariz Ibragimov was among the armed Azerbaijani diversionists who attacked at the June 18-19 night Nagorno Karabakh, and violating the ceasefire agreement, killed four Armenian soldiers and wounded four others. In the attack Mubariz Ibragimov was killed. Other Azerbaijani diversionists escaped.

“We in Armenia have more tremulous understanding of what is being a hero. All Armenian national heroes are real characters,” added Hovhannisian.

It’s worth mentioning that this is a tradition in Azerbaijan to honor those who commit crimes like ethnic cleanings, killings on sleeping people, diversionists and so on.

A photo exhibition “Agdam – Caucasian Hiroshima and a Ghost town” organized by "Inam" pluralism center opened in Azerbaijan Artists' Union.

The exhibition with financial support of the Council of State Support to NGOs under President of Azerbaijan dedicated to the 17th anniversary of occupation of Azerbaijan`s Agdam region by Armenian armed forces.

Aim of the exhibition is to include a term “Caucasian Hiroshima” in the press and political vocabulary, disseminate in the Internet and search portals, thus, inform on Nagorno Karabakh occupation by Armenian vandals. The participants will also watch the 8-minute documentary “Caucasian Hiroshima” in Azeri, English and Russian languages.

Samvel Nikoyan to Ilham Aliyev: Do you know what war is?

Want peace get ready for war, Armenian Vice-Speaker Samvel Nikoyan told the journalists asked whether resumption of hostilities might be considered as an outcome of the Karabakh conflict. Answering to NEWS.am’s question he also added that Azerbaijan places emphasis on propaganda, saying “You live in such a happy country that we can invade Armenia in 2-3 days.”

However, Nikoyan said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who makes such warlike statements should be asked the following questions: “Where were you when the Karabakh war started? What do you know about victory? You were a mature man then and could show that you are a leader in the battlefield. No, instead, you escaped abroad. Now you claim you will win. How do you know what war is? All the Armenian officer staff and the President passed war. They are commanders of the defeating army,” Nikoyan stated.

According to him, if the war breaks out, Karabakh people will fight for their family and dignity, whereas Azerbaijani army “under influence of the myths created by their historians and propaganda by Azeri authorities. “These are different mechanisms with different results,” Nikoyan concluded.
