Re: Armenia and the information war
Azerbaijani journalists threaten Skype
June 08, 2011 | 18:31
Skype continues ignoring territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, reads regular “patriotic” article posted on Azerbaijani Day.az website which is mocked not only by Armenian readers but also Russian journalists.
This time Azerbaijani “patriots” are indignant at the fact that Nagorno-Karabakh is mentioned as a part of Armenia on Skype.
“It is a flagrant violation of international legal norms. In addition to this, Skype continues to make international calls to Nagorno-Karabakh. This company has no right to provide Nagorno-Karabakh with services without consent of the Azerbaijani side, as Nagorno-Karabakh is native territory of Azerbaijan,” the website writes.
The journalists urged readers to “show civil solidarity” and write a “letter of protest” to Skype.
Moreover, they provided text of a letter with threats against the company – “such errors greatly undermine company’s credibility in our country.” The authors clearly hint, they will use phones unless Skype administration corrects the mistake.
Day.az also prepared letter samples in Russian and English languages for the readers to file a complaint to Skype.
