Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev - APA-ECONOMICS. McDonald’s Corporation, the world’s largest chain of fast food restaurants, has no plan to expand its network to Armenia, said Magsud Mirzayev, CEO of McDonalds-Azerbaijan.

“McDonald’s doesn’t have a chain in Armenia and will not have in the coming years. The main reason is the lack of political and socio-economic stability in this country. This indicates the lack of business environment there. With regard to Azerbaijan, the situation is quite different here. Here we see political and economic stability and business enabling environment,” he added.

McDonalds has had presence in Azerbaijan since 1999.

McDonald’s primarily sells hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken products, french fries, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes, and desserts. More recently, it has begun to offer salads, wraps and fruit.

McDonald’s restaurants are found in 119 countries and territories around the world and serve nearly 47 million customers each day. McDonald’s operates over 31,000 restaurants worldwide, employing more than 1.5 million people

Hahaha, what a stupid donkey nation. If an Armenian news agency would post something like this, we would not even take them serious. Who needs an McDonalds anyway? We have got KFC! :P

Its funny how they compare political stability of both countries on the basis of having a mcdonalds. they dont take into consideration that Armenia doesnt want fast food restaurants in there country, i mean how many fast food chains are in Armenia right now? i think there is only one if im not mistaken.

"Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan must resign and leave the country", said leader of oppositional Armenian National Congress, first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

This is the aim of the opposition, to which it will go calmly in terms of law and without any radical actions.

"Serzh Sargsyan will undoubtedly leave his post before the term, envisioned by the law", considers leader of the Armenian National Congress. According to him, as soon as the ruling regime recovers from the doubted victory in the elections of the Yerevan mayor, it will have to face tough reality. After the ruling regime was completely discredited, it has no enough resources for resolution of both economic and external political problems.

"Serzh Sargsyan's regime will go down", said Ter-Petrosyan, noting that time works in favor of opposition. "Time is on our side and we need not hurry. We will wait".

No Azeri captives in Karabakh - Stepanakert

There are no captives or hostages from Azerbaijan in the unrecognized
Karabakh republic, Chairman of the Karabakh State Commission for POW,
MIA and Hostages Viktor Kocharian told Interfax.

Karabakh authorities "strictly comply with the Geneva Convention.

Once the military phase of te flict was over, all the prisoners were
handed over to Azerbaijan with the mediation of the International
Committee of Red Cross (ICRC)," he said.

"Karabakh services timely inform Stepanakert offices of the ICRC and
the OSCE of any crossing of the Karabakh border by Azeri servicemen
and civilians. The latter are transferred to Azerbaijan without
preconditions," Kocharian said.

Representatives of the international organizations have free access to
all detention centers in Karabakh. There is one Azeri serviceman in
Karabakh. He crossed the border and explained his action with hazing
in the Azeri armed forces.

Kocharian refuted a statement of Chairperson of the Azeri Public
Council in Support to Captives and Hostages Esmira Orujeva, who said
that 21 Azeri children were in captivity in Karabakh.

WASHINGTON, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 11, 2009, the Armenian National Committee of America's (ANCA) Executive Director Aram Hamparian's sent a letter to the Foreign Affairs Legislative Aid. The letter is false on facts and insulting in substance.

It claims that the change in proposed FY10 economic aid to the countries of the Caucasus compared to FY09 is +20 percent for Azerbaijan, +19 percent for Georgia, and -38 percent for Armenia.

ANCA attempts to blame the U.S. Administration for double-standards but, in fact, it pursues double-standards itself. ANCA compares appropriated funds for FY09 with requested funds for FY10 in the case of Armenia, while for Azerbaijan and Georgia only requested funds are compared. The true figure for Armenia is +25 percent (FY09 request was USD 24 million and FY10 is USD 30 million).

Moreover, since independence in 1991, Armenia has always been a leading U.S. aid recipient, enjoying USD 1.7 billion in aid.

Distorting Azerbaijan's and Georgia's democratic credentials, while shielding Armenia's, is a continuation of these double-standards. Both Azerbaijan and Georgia proved to be U.S. strategic partners and neither one ever held an election which claimed the innocent lives of peaceful opposition protesters.

ANCA would serve both Armenia's and America's interests by truthfully informing the U.S. public, law-makers and officials.

According to a news release placed on the PRNewswire earlier today, the Azerbaijani Embassy set its sights on the ANCA's recent criticism of the Obama Administration's proposed reduction in U.S. assistance to Armenia in the face of proposed increases for Azerbaijan and Georgia, accusing the Armenian American grassroots group of misrepresenting aid figures to the states of the Caucasus.

"Either Azerbaijani Ambassador Yashar Aliyev is out spreading falsehoods around Capitol Hill or he really needs to brush up on his fourth grade math skills," said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian. "These publicly available figures are really rather simple and should be easy enough for even a schoolchild to easily grasp: a proposed 38% reduction in U.S. assistance to Armenia in the face of a 20% increase to Azerbaijan, despite that country's ongoing blockades of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh and President Aliyev's continued threats of renewed war."

The Azerbaijani Ambassador's response was to an ANCA Memo to Capitol Hill, titled "Double Standards: U.S. Aid Policy in the Caucasus," released on June 11th, the day after the Millennium Challenge Corporation effectively suspended a full third of its $235 million grant to Armenia due to concerns over democratic governance. The ANCA memo compared the harsh U.S. response to Yerevan's actions, both rhetorically and in terms of aid levels, to the increased financial support that both Azerbaijan and Georgia are set to receive despite their serious shortcomings in the areas of democracy, corruption, and governance.

Thanks for the article Fed. Puts in a nutshell both the Azeri propaganda and the US administration's real policy line.

Plus I wouldn't be surprised if the ambassador really has fourth grade education.

According to Armenian Tert.am, the Graparak newspaper has published information about talks around Karabakh as well as a version of the discussed map.

Referring to "information from reliable sources", the newspaper reads that Serzh Sargsyan said "NKR" separatists there is no alternative to serious concessions to Azerbaijan for a way out of the situation, established in Armenia.

According to this information, international peacekeeping troops will be dislocated in Lachin, while the so-called "security belt around the unrecognized "NKR" - (Armenian occupied regions) - will be returned to Azerbaijan in turn.

At the same time , the earlier occupied Fizuli, Aghdam, Cebrail, Kubalti, Zangelan and Kelbajar will be returned to Azerbaijan.
